now i am confused there is a post by overdozer that assume even with antegrade nailing there is a knee pain its supplied by a studies here is a link
http://www.limblengtheningforum.com/index.php?topic=2168.msg34688#msg34688
could someone explain a bit cauz from what i understood its wrong to go for internal femoral even with latn that it cause knee pain
how the hell could anyone tolerate ex femur ?
anterior knee pain after antegrade femur nailing is caused by the way the nail sits close to the anterior distal femur metaphysis. It is not in everyone , and usually resolves with nail removal.
This is due to a mismatch between nail and bone elasticity (mechanically speaking)
Thank you!
1. Should you wait at least a year or how much time before removing internals?
2. Is there an upper limit on how long you can safely keep the internals in there?
1) i usually remove the hardware at a year if bone is fully healed. i’m looking for complete mature bone.
2) it gets harder to remove rods beyond 2 or 3 years.
There is no safety data about carrying around a powerful magnet. Especially if you need an MRI done...
the rationale for Precice/Stryde removal is also: if one gets injured around the rod and requires urgent/émergent surgery in an area where they don’t have the tools necessary to remove the rod, it may become problematic
