Just a simple question. Does anyone have data or studies regarding the potential for knee-related issues after, let's say, an 8 CM total gain via Femur LL?
This has been a mental blocker for me as I prepare to undergo this process myself.

That’s a very good question! I’d like to know too because I’m about to do G-nail next month. Hoping for 8-10cm, but would be content with 7cm too. Where are you planning to do your surgery@Thirdspace ?

If all goes well I'll be going to Dr. Assayag next year for 8 cm in femurs. Haven't decided if I want to create a diary because there is some toxicity and language barriers given how the forum is so international. It might be therapeutic, guess I'll know when I get it. Have you asked Dr. G about this?
Dr G says it’s possible to get to 8cm safely. He is easy to talk to and is very thorough during his in-person consultation. I’d get an in-person consultation with Dr A in Baltimore first if I were you, so he can examine you then I’d say you’d have a better answer and clearer picture based on your flexibility and x-rays.
If there is a knee related problem , you can short your 8CM to 7 CM , to fix your knee problem .
highly doubt that will happen , I did 8CM , almost 100% on both legs , had sensitive knee during LL , went away after I flew home . period.

Yes - I have my consultation in January. Let's see how it goes! Part of me feels that I just have to go and do this surgery. There's only so much I can learn from reading someone else's experience. Everyone has a different one. So will I!
I thought knee issues happened more with tibias? Can they happen with femurs as well?

Of course and maybe more usual than tibias especially with internal nails.
Anything more than 8cm in femurs is very probable to lead to knee pain especially due to the femur-tibia ratio that will be very off in addition to trauma from the internal nail.
For less than 8cm if there isn't any misalignment then probably there won't be any issue.
