Ok guys, I was doing very well for months with height neurosis, than I was just in a situation with a girl I liked who went for a 6' 1" dude instead of me.

Neurosis overload trigger!!!

Anyway, I really hope it wasn't because be was taller, but I question stuff like this. Do you think in reality, most short or average height girls care that much about 5' 9" vs 6' 1"? Is this all a imaginary problem I've created in my head?

I should mention that every day when I walk down the vastly populated streets of New York City, I see a couple with a shorter man and taller woman, for whatever it's worth.

Well, if you put 2 "twins" in a club, one at 5'9" and the other one at 6'0" guess who will have more chances?

Being 5´9 will certainly not be a huge problem when it comes to women, however being taller is simply an increase in attractivnes (up to 6´2-6´3)  no matter how you look.

Would it really though? If both twins had the same personality and approached the same 10  5' 4" girls, would one have a higher success rate? I'm not really sure...

It's just usually easier for the taller dude but Alittletooshort is right, at 5'9" height shouldn't be a problem to pickup in most cases.  Also some chicks don't like too much difference as it's annoying for them to break their neck when looking at their bf.

That's a good point actually. I've noticed a ton of 5' 4" girls with 5' 7" guys walking down the streets of New York who look very happy together. Than I see a 5' 1" girl with a 6' 3" guy holding hands looking less happy. I guess the height queen didn't take into account the importance of "eye to eye" contact in the selection of her giant boyfriend.

I've nothing concrete to back this up with but I'd say that (assuming good proportions) taller is always better. Now obviously 2 meters+ might be excessive but allow me to show what I mean.

As always a picture is worth a thousand words.

Are 5' 9" guys really disadvantaged in the dating scene compared to 6'+ guys?

In this image the man on the left is 196CM and his friend is 184CM. Try to look at them through the eyes of a woman, let's just come clean and admit that the one on the left appears much more masculine, powerful and impressive. There is not that much more to say really, us humans consider body size (height) as desireable. Women find it attractive and for men it evokes respect. Assuming you are not ridiculously (and I do mean ridiculously) tall it will always be more impressive than shorter men around you.

Of course there are other disadvantages of being tall, the world is made for average size humans after all, it can be hard to fit in with shorter friends and obviously there are exceptions to every rule but in general a taller version of you would be more attractive. If this sounds depressing consider that neither is there such a thing as "too handsome" or "too well-liked". There will always be taller, better looking, more successful and more attractive men than you. The key is to reach a height that you are comfortable spending the rest of your life with, from time to time you will be overshadowed like Channing Tatum (the guy on the left) above but such is life I'm afraid.

Also never forget that height is but one thing that makes a person, that 6'1 guy was more attractive than you to that particualar girl. If you had been 190CM you would have had a leg up on him but perhaps what really turned her head was his looks or his charms and he would've gotten her anyway.

Bottom line is being tall is attractive to women much like being good looking is, people come in different sizes and with different faces that is how it has always been.

taller is not always better, i think 6'1 (186 cm) is the most i would go for a guy! (since I will be almost 6'). so, anywhere from 180 cm to 186 cm  Are 5' 9" guys really disadvantaged in the dating scene compared to 6'+ guys?. don't like to feel like a dwarf. of course i can still give < 180 cm and > 186 cm a chance but ideal is 180-186.

my other model friends prefer 6'. too big eyes are not good, too sharp noses are not good. the same goes for height. you can be "too tall".

Since you are already a tall girl though, I can understand why you want taller guys. At least you aren't demanding 6' 1"+
