I know that your wingspan takes your back width into consideration, but shouldn't it be your individual arm length that matters more when calculating your proportions?

Yeah, but shoulder broadness is also a pretty big factor proportion wise in my opinion. Although i get what you mean, you could probably get away easier with narrow shoulders and long arms than the other way around.
