So to start just want to say not really looking for any advice on this topic but just wanted to see if anyone else is dealing with what I'm dealing with. Live in the South (USA South), in a very very religious area. Not making excuses at all, but just saying that it'll be tougher to confide with anyone else about this surgery. Come from a strictly religious household, but personally not. Just want to say that down south, image is very important and height is a big part of that for males. Never have been one to care about what others think about me, but can just imagine my family never really trying to understand. They're the type who think if you pray or do enough good things you'll get rewarded with a good life and if bad things happen to you then you are either a bad person or deserved it. Not asking for sympathy by the way (still getting the surgery done, already booked a consultation with Dr. Rozbruch) but it's hard to do stuff like this when society is against it. It's really messed up though, because feel like you are penalized for being short but you are also penalized when you go to try do something to not be short or as short.

Yea, definitely have, was made to recite lines of the Bible as a kid. I'm an atheist and my family knows it. Already getting a lot of grief from them because of it, will definitely not tell them about CLL. My height is 171 cm (5'7), and for most of my life was the shortest or one of the shortest in every room.
