Hi everyone, I'm considering height increase surgery and I'm wondering what's the most popular surgery name used today? I've heard of limb lengthening, but are there other names for it? What are the differences between them?

I've undergone limb lengthening surgery, and it's been a life-changing experience. However, I must emphasize the importance of carefully evaluating the potential risks and benefits. The cost of the procedure can vary greatly, and it's essential to consult with a qualified specialist to determine the best course of treatment.

I'm not sure about this... I've read about the risks of non-union and infection. And what about the cost? Is it really worth it? Has anyone considered the long-term effects of this surgery?

As an individual with a deep interest in orthopedic limb lengthening, I'd like to provide a comprehensive overview of the topic. Limb lengthening, also known as distraction osteogenesis, is a surgical procedure that involves cutting and gradually lengthening a bone to increase its length. The Ilizarov method is a well-established technique that uses a circular external fixator to stabilize the osteotomy site, allowing for controlled distraction and subsequent bone formation.

The lengthening over nail (LON) technique is another popular method, which combines the use of an intramedullary nail with external fixation to promote bone growth. While LON has been shown to reduce external fixator time and improve patient satisfaction, it's essential to consider the potential risks, such as screw breakage and pin-site infection, which can occur in up to 13% of cases.

When evaluating the effectiveness of limb lengthening surgery, it's crucial to consider the individual's overall health, bone quality, and potential risks. The cost of the procedure can vary greatly, and it's essential to consult with a qualified specialist to determine the best course of treatment.

Regarding the PRECICE nail, it is a fully internal, motor-driven device that allows for remote distraction. While it has shown promising results, it's essential to carefully evaluate the benefits and potential drawbacks compared to other options.

In conclusion, limb lengthening surgery can be a life-changing procedure for individuals with short stature or limb length discrepancies. However, it's essential to approach the decision with caution, carefully weighing the potential risks and benefits, and consulting with a qualified specialist to determine the best course of treatment.

I'm considering the PRECICE nail for my lengthening procedure. Has anyone had experience with this device? What are the pros and cons?

I've had both tibial and femoral lengthening, and I can attest that the tibial lengthening was much easier to recover from. The femoral lengthening was more complicated, but the results were worth it. @LimbLengtheningEnthusiast, how was your recovery from tibial lengthening?
