Hey, I wanna talk about heightism in China today. My socks were knocked off cuz I couldn't believe how much obsessed with heights my country's GenZs are!
In 4 months, I have joined nearly up to 8 groups open for Depression and Bipolar patients and I discovered that, after I joined these groups, almost in 2 weeks, the discussions about how tall you are and how tall your region is on average would necessarily be started and I could always see many ppl who were inflating the average heights and maybe their individual heights, like 'I'm a 13 y.o girl born in Fujian Province and there are countless 180cm+ junior school girls in my school, not to mention boys!', 'I'm only 187cm and shorter than the millenial's average height', and etc.
I was deadly surprised by the newest generation's obsession with heights and how heightism my home country is being.
Is it the same with your countries' newest generations?

I saw a post whining about the phenomena that on reddit, there are many users inflating their heights so that their average height is up to 180cm+!
But still convinced that the most heightism country is China.

Quote from: KiloKAHN on January 11, 2022, 01:25:41 AMChina's height obsession has been going on since way before Gen Z.

I remember a Chinese exchange student telling me in 2008 that even though she thought I was cute, her parents would never accept me as marriage material because (at the time) I was 164 cm. Wasn't even a class thing either since her dad was a bellhop and mom was stay-at-home.

Years later she married one of the most awkward people I knew at the time, but he was tall and gangly.
Wait. But back then China's obsession with height is way less gentle than that among GenZs, at least I never saw this was common that if you were a short guy, many of your peers would persuade you to 'kill urself'(at least it is a commonplace online) before GenZ but now this appears to be very politically correct! But still I am taking great pity on your story and feeling sorry for your negative experience like that.

Quote from: Highest on January 11, 2022, 03:45:05 AM164cm is crazy short for a man though, it's average woman's height. She would have been into you at your current height 170cm which is more normal range short.
170cm is still considered as short nowadays when it comes to dating Chinese young girls or even getting married with 'em.

Quote from: Audous on January 11, 2022, 02:21:03 AMHeightism is truly universal in the worldwide Gen Z population and not only exclusive to China, unfortunately it is bad in every country.
How severely are your country's GenZs inflating their heights and average height?

Quote from: Thorfinnn on January 18, 2022, 07:56:06 PMChina’s millennials are taller than 187 cm on average? They really think that
Most of them really think that not all of them and we should spare those idiots with opporunties of changing their perceptions of height LOL.
Especially on Douyin, Tieba, Kuaishou, Bilibili and similar platforms everything under 185cm seems like midget and if you are shorter than 180cm you cannot even tower over most of pupils in China and that's why I give up spending most of leisure time on domestic forums to Reddit, d and LL forum.

Quote from: zaozari on January 26, 2022, 09:12:47 PMWhat's your opinion on Vietnamese people and country regarding dating and height? Average women are 152 cm and men 162 cm at least a few years ago.

I find women there apparently more "serious" and "marriable" than Chinese or Thai as far as I note in the web. There are also a lot, maybe the majority in websites, not starving women, instead, we find a lot of cultural developed girls  for example. This is not to say Chinese or Thai women are less than them in general or the whole, but there are a lot of just "fun" or gold diggers in the web.
You mean Chinese or Thai women are having bigger money worships in dating and marriages than Vietnameses? I dunno the exact situations of Vietnameses but in China some men purchase Vietnameses as their women with money but some of the women are not true to the core, just fixated on their money so after they achieve the money they just escape away from those purchasers.
It's true that China is placing great emphasis on marriages but rn in China younsters are not overwhelmed in getting married like before anymore cuz of various distresses along having and cultivating babies.
