consequences of monorail on femur ,I will explain point to point.
Monorail is very unstable device, Holding pins can break easily and can bend too.
A broken pin can stuck in your bone , You may need another surgery to remove that broken pin( wire) or have to live with broken pin inside your bone for life long .
Walking with monorail can cause bone misalignment and pin can break during lengthening time.
Misalignment can lead to hip and knee joint osteoarthritis in early age .
Some drs says Till 5° is okay but even this 5° will cause a lot of problem in your joints
Flexion of knee is hard to get back upto 135 to 140 .
knee joint space can reduce and patient will endup with deformities like genu valgum or varus
These are some major problems with monorail in femur
better to avoid monorail in femur , Monorail in femur is very complicated
I agree. I think tibias with LON would be OK, but I'd never go through LON on femurs if it was even free for me.
Best Regards
I've heard monorails on femurs are fine if you get it done by a good doctor, but the issue is mostly discomfort. It's horrible to do external femurs

All External procedure on femur are complicated .
Internals are the best for femur

It is not just a matter of doctor's competence, obviously with an incompetent doctor even the simplest things can become dangerous! LON in the femur has inherent disantvantages that @more discribed very well; I would also add the considerable risk of deep bone infection. For all these reasons, no high end doctor recommends LON in the femur for cosmetic reasons nowadays.
Yep, agree and I've learned since making that comment half a year ago.

They are not. External pins will tear muscles on femurs where is full of muscles and will lead to scaring which makes muscles less strong and flexible.
Also it is barbaric and without LON it will definitely lead to major misalignments.
For femurs internals only is the only way. Period.
