Bs.

Ignore your friend.

See the guy here with a 185cm father and a 170cm mother, and who only grew to 175cm.

No point thinking about it now but I'd say yes.

All the East Asian people I know here in the UK are 5'9+ when none of their parents are over 5'3.

I think it's different if your parents were brought up in a wealthy country though because I imagine the only reason the East Asians here have grown to be so much taller than their parents is because they've had good nutrition whereas their parents didn't.

This is just something i've realised growing up in a multicultural area..that East Asians can grow almost a foot taller than their parents if their parents were born back in China but for South Asians like Indians even if their parents were born back in India but they themselves were born here they still only grow 1-2 inches taller than their dads.

It as if East Asians have a secret tall gene once they have good nutrition. Just look at China and South Korea's average height in 1980s it was 5'2 5'4 now it is 5'9 in 2019. That's only one generation. Meaning all these 5'4 dads produced 5'9 sons.

Definitely, my childhood friend had parents both under 5ft, he has 3 brother and 2 sisters. All the guys grew to be 5'8-5'11 and their sister is 5'6 eventhough their dad is only 4'11.

You can also check the average height for Chinese people, Average height for 18 year old Chinese people in 2016 was 5'9. It might even possibly be 5'10 in 2019. Another fact, East Asia is the fastest growing countries in the world because of the recent wealth and to back up what I was saying about Chinese people having a secret tall gene. Arabs have recently got rich too but in the past 40 years their height only went from 5'4 average to 5'7. Some African countries like Nigeria have become rich too but their average height only went from 5'7 to 5'9 in 25 years. Whereas in China average height from 1980 to 2018 went from 162cm to 176cm (5'2-5'9) and South Korea is even better, went from 159cm in 1980 to 177cm in 2018, a whole 18cm in 1 generation.

There's no way that's the average height in those countries. I've been around a lot of Chinese and South Korean tourists, who are supposed to have even better nutrition, lifestyle, and are on the younger side of their populations.

I'm not sure how to add an image and links aren't allowed? But you can google it, don't check Wikipedia or websites such as that, look for updated 2016+ surveys and researches. All of them will tell you that the Average height is at least 5'8. You can also look for height increase charts and find that East Asia has gained the most height in the past 40 years

5'8 seems accurate for South Koreans. Probably pretty close to 5'9 if you only take men under 22. 5'8 and some change is accurate for young Chinese men from specific regions. However, a 177cm+ (essentially 5'10) average is too much.
