I am having a very hard time deciding b/w these two nails. I am goona get the surgery in december. Please help me decide.
G-nail is supposed to be full weight bearing like stryde but I've heard about some complication a user 'unicorn' had with G-nail. Giotikas seems to be confident on the nail but I am not sure if the complications unicorn had were because of the nail or the doctor?
The only disadvantage of precice is it's not weight bearing and it took 9 months to be able to walk unassisted for user penguin. 9 months of the non-weight bearing will be a big problem for me.
Gnail like all mechanical nails is a barbaric crap.
Of course you should go with precise and you will need much less time than 9 months to walk unaided.
After 2-3 months from stoping lengthening you will be able to walk unaided unless your bone gap is very thin.
Precice is safer but extremely inconvenient. Sometimes I think it's impossible to do it alone.
G-nail is less safe (higher risk of non-union, unusual osteotomy techniques, initial 1cm lengthening practice) but if it works well you'll be very happy.
I did G nail 12 days ago, and I can say that, at this point, I would have probably broken the Precice nail. The taxi drivers here in Greece are quite rough, and you will have to put more weight on your legs than what you think. At least here in Greece, I think the only option with Precice would be to rent a special car for disabled people.

Dr Giotikas disagrees with higher risk of non-union point. He says the non-union risk is same for both precice and G-nail.

checkout the paper "Stature lengthening using precice intramedullary lengthening nail"
I don't know if there is published data on Gnail (ask the doc if you can).

Actually, it's as old as betz bone. They first created Albizzia nail then guichet modified it a bit to create G-nail and betz modified it to create betz bone nail. Guichet created original alibizza nail and betz modified the rotation manoeuvre and created betz bone and Guichet modified it and created G-nail.
1. For giotikas, what is the difference in price?
2. How soon with gnail can you start walking unassisted?
3. How much pain/risk does the gnail impart from the mechanical clicking?
4. Even if you can walk with gnail, should you? I don't remember what happened with Unicorn, do you guys know? She deleted her diary but what movements/actions did she think were dangerous?

If I remember correctly the nail was positioned incorrectly in her case. Then the nail broke and caused fracture.
