Will consistently stretching daily for years prior to my surgery assist in increasing my femurs by 10 cm and tibias by 6 cm?

You should not have to stretch for years before limb lengthening surgery, a few months of daily stretching should be enough. Being more flexible does not necessarily ensure a greater increase in height. Your body will only go as far as it can, and you will realize when you reach that point.

My primary worry is the possibility of not reaching my limb lengthening goal because of tight muscles and ligaments. Therefore, I aim to explore all possible avenues to ensure that I can accomplish it.

Do whatever is necessary if your surgeon advises you to exert effort for flexibility. Having been of reasonable height to begin with, you shouldn’t encounter too much difficulty achieving the desired height through limb lengthening. If I were in your position, I would commence weakening my legs if you haven’t done so yet. A 10cm extension is quite a decent accomplishment, and it will be significantly more agonizing if you neglect to prioritize reducing that excess muscle.

Cease weightlifting activities using your lower limbs. To reduce weight, engage in cardiovascular exercises in addition to stretching. Also, decrease your current calorie intake. Muscle atrophy pertains mostly to individuals who previously exercised their legs and already have muscle mass there. If you fall into this category, focus on losing the muscle mass you have gained.

10 cm on the femurs is unsafe for anyone unless their starting height is around 190 cm before limb lengthening surgery. The maximum safety standard is 8 cm on the femurs, and to achieve this goal, it is advisable to have a decent starting height of at least above 5’5 / 165 cm and good flexibility before the surgery. Most individuals start experiencing issues after 4-5 cm on the tibias, which is similar to what was mentioned earlier.

In general, it is wiser not to exceed safe limits and maintain good health rather than jeopardizing functionality for a minimal gain of 1-2 cm. Such a small increase is hardly noticeable in reality, and having a good posture can provide a similar enhancement.

May I ask about your starting height?
