Hello all,

Some of you know me as I had a journal on here before absolutely bat sh!t crazy trolls took over the sub (seems to be under control now).

I lengthened 3.2CM and now am at a height of 5'8.5 (174CM).  I had early consolidation and could not click anymore so I did not hit my original goal of 4-5CM.

Good news is my consolidation is going well and Im already fused.  Starting to not even be able to see the bone gap and my alignment and screws look great.  Im starting sports now and already do a lot of physical activity.  Obviously my walk is perfect and has been for quite some time and my flexibility is mostly back.

So anyway....I want to get an opinion particularly from those who have done LL and are in the 5'9-5'11 region now (but anyone can comment).

Should I re-break and get 2 additional CM and get up to around 5'9.5?  Or should I just wrap this up and get the nails out because it wont make that much of a difference.

I feel far less short than before but I already have these nails in me and I didnt hit my goal so its in the back of my mind.

Problem is Im heading up to my mid-30's now and I really dont want to draw out this process....Im getting older.  A re-break will push the timeline to getting my nails out by 1 year.

So my question is .... do you see a life quality difference for men who are 5'9.5 over 5'8.5.  Think its worth it or time to just move on.  Its really a personal question but just thought Id ask as Im on the fence.

Just to be clear id say my height neurosis is cured (I dont feel oddly short anymore like its the first thing people notice about me) but I really do like being taller.

Thanks

not much life difference tbh. If you rebreak do more like at least 4cm.

I'm not the requested height. But personally if I was in your situation, I would ask my surgeon wether he believes that the same issue would reaccure and how much extra you would have to pay again. If the issue isn't likely to accure and you ain't paying a fortune again, I would personally do it since you only have this one opportunity. With age you also lose height and maybe when you're like 50+ you would almost be down to your original height before surgery...

Thanks for the input.

Getting to 2CM is a sure bet because the initial gap is almost 1CM.  All you have to lengthen is like 15 days to get to 2CM beyond the initial gap.

Also not to brag but just as a matter of fact the financial aspect of LL is not a concern of mine.  So no worries there.

Its really the push back of the timeline that bothers me.  If I could wrap it up in 6months I would do it but 1 year is really pushing it.

To me it sounds like this is something that is gnawing on your mind, and might do for some time.
I sense some kind of regret that you didn't go for your initial goal.
If the financial aspect is what you say, of no concern to you, you might as well do the rebreak while you still have the nails inside, making the whole process less trumatic for your tissues.
Just my 2 cents.

Edit: Also saw you did femurs. Honestly I would go for 3 or 4 more cm if you decide to rebreak to make it worth it.

Yeah its just that once these nails are out thats it.  Never again.  So trying to think critically about it.

I dont feel short but my god is it fun getting taller.  Think id want to stick with 2CM honestly.  I dont want out of wack proportions.

Hey, a question for you.
You say you did 3.2cm.
Is this amount really noticable for you?
Is the change significant for you?

I'm at this height gain (~3cm) and I can't say I feel any real change, definitely not tall (and I also reached 173).
The thing is, Ive only done one leg, and perhaps the other leg at the same height would make me notice the difference.
Of course I know you're as tall as your short leg, but when I only consider the longer leg, I don't see a significant change.

The thing is, like you (I think) I don't want to lengthen to amount which be too noticable. Basically the minimal gain required to feel better and not embarrassed of that fraud issue.
I suppose the answer to this is based on a feeling which is individual...
But perhaps 3.5-4cm is this golden amount.

I read your message twice and seriously didn't understand if it was a reply to my message or something else.
My question was - how noticable for you a 3+ cm gain felt?
Especially since your starting height was same as mine.

No need for philosophical talk about bollocks, thanks.

If you did quadrilateral lengthening than I'm mistaken and this question is irrelevant.

Bud that was the troll who replied to you, not me.

But I absolutely feel the difference.  Its very noticeable especially when standing next to people you know.  Its basically like wearing your standard pair of lifts.  That said, I wish I got the last CM and hit over 4.  But its better than 0 and Im glad I did this in the end.

I would recommend a bare minimum of 4CM and probably more like 5CM if you want to do small amounts.

Thanks.
Perhaps I will push towards 4...

The option of LATN kind of encourages me to push more than 3cm. Until now one of the considerations of not pushing too much was the fact that 1 more cm will have me 1-2 more months until I can remove the externals.
But if I do remove it right after finishing lengthening, it changes things.
However I do fear of regretting putting a nail, if it causes extra problems, or if the time until I can walk unassisted is the same or longer, compared to sticking with externals

Sorry for hijacking your thread...
