Hi everyone, I'm considering limb lengthening training at the London Surgery School and I was wondering if the UK accreditation is recognized globally? Has anyone had any experience with this?

I underwent limb lengthening surgery 5 years ago and I can tell you that the pain was intense, but the results were worth it. My doctor was based in the UK and the accreditation was recognized in my home country, so I didn't have any issues.

I'm not sure about the accreditation, but I've read that limb lengthening surgery can have some serious complications, such as joint stiffness and nerve damage. Has anyone experienced any of these issues?

For limb lengthening surgery, it is essential to consider the osteotomy technique and the rate of distraction to avoid complications such as joint subluxation and nerve damage. The Ilizarov method, which utilizes a circular external fixator, has been shown to be effective in achieving significant limb lengthening while minimizing complications.
