How common is osteomyelitis i.e. infection of the bone?

How does one prevent this, and how does one deal with this?

LON on the femur you have a 20% chance of getting osteomyelitis.  With internal methods on the femur, a chance of no more than 1%.  Regarding tibia.  Both external and internal methods have a very low chance.

with external fixators if you dont get intraoperative infection like hasaki who got the infection on the first surgery, then it is not common at all

basically you get a pin site infection, which if caught within a day/few days and immediately hit with daily cleaning + antibiotics course it would kill it in its beginning

otherwise if left unchecked, the bacteria will travel down into the bone and produce inflammation, this inflammation will be painful and will definitely alert you something is wrong and AGAIN there is a way to treat it with immediate strong infusion of IV antibiotics

only if the doctor or support team ignore your pleas for pain and possible complication would it become a trainwreck(like with hasaki, where this dumbphuck turk boy nurse who was cleaning his wounds every 3 days and saw with his own 2 eyes massive puddles of yellow pus on his wounds never once figured it is an infection - criminal negligence honestly)

Are there any scholarly reports that provide evidence for the 20% incidence of osteomyelitis in the femoral LON?

External tibia has a higher chance than the internal tibia and it's not very low. The best way to avoid this is to avoid anything external.
