Asking this because currently if I do intense stretching (hamstrings and sciatic nerve) I get inflammation and actually become less flexible the next day. I dont get how you can hit it hard every single day. Do you have rest days at all? Or is the whole process basically just never giving it a rest and tearing fiber? I do notice if I take advil that things calm down. So maybe the anti-inflammatory meds are the key.
I guess Im asking if you can ever afford to take a day off or 2 and let things calm down or if you really need to stretch every single day like clockwork.
Intense stretching everyday during LL....how is it even possible?
I guess this is why people like the sauana and hot showers.....to loosen things up and allow you to keep going. Stretching this morning and things do loosen up after a while for me I suppose.
You haven’t even done it so, with all due respect, I don‘t get why you speak like you have the experience already? Makes no sense to me. Obviously stretching before is very different to what it will be like once you do it.
Look, the concept is very simple to understand. Think of it this way: your bone gets longer so your muscles need to get longer too, how do you do that? Stretching. If you stretch and the bone stays the same length (eg before surgery) your muscle doesn‘t need to adapt permanently so they go back to their original length after a few hours. This is also why stretching before is more just useful to get into the habit.
You will see once you do it. But for 5 cm man honestly you could go with very little stretching but the less you stretch the worse you will feel, clicking will also be more painful, you won‘t be able to sleep etc. I saw one guy was going and he refused stretching. He suffered the most by far. He wanted 10cm but there is no way doing that without stretching, he had to quit shortly before 5cm. I think 4.something.
And for the question how can people do that? I can just tell you it‘s the hardest and most terrible thing about this process I stretch 4h everyday. Never took a day off. It‘s very exhausting and tiring but it‘s the price you have to pay. If you aren‘t willing to do that, stay away from surgery (or femur at least, I heard for tibia it‘s much much easier).
lol, my comment wasnt saying ive done it, I was saying intense regular stretching already causes a lot of inflammation and inflexibility/stiffness, so I cant imagine what LL does on top of that. But honestly after stretching more today I can tell it just takes a long time and hence 4 hours per day. 1 hour of that is prob just warming things up.
Appreciate the input. I guess ill just see how it goes when it happens.

Fully agree! Honestly, if you bow before surgery are worrying about the amount of stretching than pls dont do the surgery. You need to be fully disciplined for this otherwise you Will get crazy due to the complications, like wide legs, duck ass, lower back pain etc, which come along LL.
Dr. Betz told me in advance: this will not be any funny adventure, holiday or so, it is a bundge of hard disciplined work for months not only weeks… he was totally right

It appeared to me as if you spoke like you already have the experience. My bad then I guess.
No, definitely the opposite; in case of LL stretching will increase your flexibility and MASSIVELY decrease stiffness. In fact no pain pill can decrease stiffness, only stretching can.
And I haven‘t heard about the inflammation. I definitely have no inflammation from stretching and I haven‘t heard of anyone having that problem.

Yes, I can second that 100%. Even if I stretch 3h instead of 4h for one day I immediately feel much worse the next day. This is a test of discipline.
Taller, when you did the surgery, did you also see quite a few people who just disobeyed the Doctors oders and didn‘t stretch or stretched very little and suffered so much? I surely did and it was baffling to me. If someone decides to do this they NEED to do what they are being told man like I can‘t imagine just sitting around and not stretching. I would have quit it at 4-5cm max.

I get it. Im working hard on stretching even before the surgery (but currently every other day to allow to heal which might need to change)....thats why Im getting inflammation. Just was curious if your body fights you after intense stretching. I can touch my mid shins right now which is probably not ideal considering people go into this being able to touch their toes, so this is my biggest concern that im trying to resolve.

I had the case that I was the only patient in the Hospital for two weeks. At that time they have done the most surgeries in Freiburg, so that I did had the chance to see another patient.
Why did you need stretch for 4 hours a day? Were you not flexible at all prior to the surgery?
I'm curious, cause 4 hours a day seems alot to me.
