Can one survive alone with just crutches and no caretaker after the surgery? I don't live at a wheelchair accessible home, and I am wondering if I can do this surgery with the Precise 2 nail and go on in the lengthening phase with just crutches and no caretaker (I don't plan to lift heavy things, I'd occasional ask a friend to come over for help). And can I do all of this if the Stryde nail comes back?

I dont think a caretaker is necessary but a wheelchair is definitely necessary for at least the first 2 weeks. If your house just has a step into your door, just buy wheelchair ramps and set them up before the surgery.

You're absolutely going to need help in one way or another especially with food.  I was ok because I had weight bearing and ordered my groceries and meals.  So make sure you budget nonstop delivery if you dont have a caretaker.  I cant imagine going to the grocery store regularly through the lengthening process and even 1 month into consolidation.

I was alone on a non weight bearing nail and was fine with food. Costco run before surgery. Then I did amazon fresh / instacart like twice because I wanted some fresh bagels and fruits. I even cooked steak once. But most of the time it's just microwavable food like mashed potatoes, some beef I can microwave, and etc.
breakfast almost eggos, uncrustables, or bagels with cream cheese.

dishes are easy, you can throw them in a dish washer and just press a button to turn it on. But yeah, you need to have a big costco run before and potentially some delivery app cause theres gonna be stuff you crave after the surgery you wouldnt know before hand, for me, definitely fruits.
