I am an Indian origin Australian and want to get precice stryde femur lengthening surgery. Here in Australia they dont do LL for height gain. I had an embarassing visit to my GP who insisted on me seeing a psychologist and didnt agree to refer me to an LL specialist.

I dont believe this surgery is even available here (even if I paid for it) and honestly sometimes I feel the healthcare is not all that great for specialised surgeries. This is the case in many universal healthcare countries. Good healthcare is available to all but not rare specialised surgeries. They dont even see much trauma volume here and population density is so low.

I have grandparents in Mumbai and was considering getting LL with Dr. Parihar who is near them. My only qualm is that their hospital looks quite basic. I would NOT mind a dreary stay in the recovery room but I am afraid of getting infections.

My image of "medical tourism" in India was of huge hospitals which stand contrasting to the rest of the developing India. I know some previous surgeons on this board (Dr. Sarin, Dr. Sringare) operate out of such "big" hospitals but I would not like to be under their care for their lack of credentials.

Here is how medical equipment are cleaned in a state of the art facility.

Would such a facility exist in the one Dr. Parihar operates in?

Did any past patients or visitors talk about such concerns or get to see the hospital during a consultation?

Somehow the few LL doctors in India with good credentials (Dr. Parihar, Dr. Suhas Shah and Dr. Milind Chaudhury) all operate from their own small hospitals. Are they able to maintain high sterility in small setups?

I have family in Mumbai and am more acclamatised to the city. While planning this surgery a year ago I was ready to go anywhere in the world to do it, but it is actually quite scary to actually go ahead and do it now that I am ready. Not having family near me is turning out to be more worrying than I had imagined.

Also I have these pieces of evidence in favour of Dr. Parihar:

- Very good resume
- Not new to this field (over 20 years of experience)
- Youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/user/mangalparihar with lots of seminars and teaching videos for other doctors
- Very good English (compared to many European doctors)
- Uses Precice and Stryde nails

I am trying to look outside of this "bubble" of LL forum and avoid doctors who have no reputation outside of this "cosmetic" LL community. That would leave me with Dr. Paley, Dr. Rozbruch and Dr. Parihar. Dr. Giotikas was unheard of outside of this forum and I have no way of investigating if he is a famous surgeon in Greece.

If I can get over the fear of infections at an older hospital I would go ahead and do it in Mumbai. Infections are by far the worst outcome of LL which is the only way to lead to the worst complication of an amputation.

Please dont be Dr Giotikas guinea pig. People like Kenda are too scared to jump into LL but stay trying to convince people to go to doctors that they are considering just to see how good they are.

Man I really wish any past LLers would opine about this. I see the only forum members who did this are KiloKAHN, Penguinn and Useful Dude who hardly post anymore. I don't want to postpone this procedure anymore but every now and then I get this picture of a guy with amputated legs and it scares the hell out of me.  Is Mangal Anand hospital hygienic and sterile?

Why don’t you go there for a consultation first and then decide.
It’s not good to make concrete decisions before meeting any doctors.
Many people actually regret later for jumping into it.
Also I would recommend to go to other hospitals just to compare.
