I am planning to adjust my body for the best surgery outcome, can someone give me some advice? Is swimming the best exercise for preparing the surgery?

Yoga stretching helps a ton. Avoid building muscles in your legs!

Yoga as PerfectBody said.  If you’re doing Femurs then do Quads and Hamstrings in your stretch routine constantly.  If tibia then do calves.  You should try to touch your feet before surgery if you can’t already.

I thought havnig strong muscles to start with, was a good thing since you end up losing a lot of mass and strength with the surgery.
Why do you recommend not building muscles in the legs ?

Because larger muscles make you stiff. There is also more muscle fibers to stretch. Both will lead to greater pain/discomfort.

Yoga is great, I also remember doing stretches that Cyborg posted before my surgery:
