Anyone who has gone through the LL journey. How much of your weightlifting gains did you lose? I have been training for 2 years now. If I go for external tibia LON how much do you estimate it would take to get it back? I believe I won't be able to train for 3-4 months. Just a guess I don't know. Can someone share their experience?
Quote from: eric.cartman on September 12, 2021, 05:06:33 PMhey man, I did external LATN Tibias in Feb this year - used to do powerlifting for years before the surgery. You'll lose a lot of muscle- i mean a LOT! Your glutes, hamstrings, quads and calves all will atrophy beyond belief - crutches and wheelchair are no good to retain muscle. I'm just getting back into gym since a month but it's probably atleast another 3-4 months before I can squat my body weight.
My upperbody strength has almost returned back to normal tho. I was out of gym for almost 6 months (also due to lockdown)
Thanks a lot for the reply bro. Really appreciate it.
I might sound retarded here but can one train his upper body during the distraction phase if be brings a pair of dumbbells with him?

As of now parihar
Quote from: MorningStar on September 12, 2021, 06:23:41 PMYes, it's possible as long as you don't put any pressure on your legs.
Thanks a lot

The reason why our muscles atrophy during lengthening is not mainly because of crutches and wheelchair, though they play a part. People who sit around all day can still walk better compared to LLers who train all day.
LLers lose muscle because their muscles are extremely stiff, which significantly limits the range of micro-contractions that your muscles can perform. Combined with muscle relaxers, your leg during lengthening will contract significantly less than a normal person in an idle state.
Your muscle mass will slowly recover as soon as you've stretched your muscles back into shape.
Oh cool. Thanks for that. I actually don't have much gains to begin with so was worried about it. Thanks.

Thanks for the reply 😊. I'll keep that in mind
