Hey there, im tom,
im new here to this forum. first of all i think its great that something like this exists and that theres a community for it. im 22 years old and im from austria I'm 5'6.5 tall and it has been bothering me for a very long time(austian average for my age group is 180.5!!). I just wanted to hear your general opinion: im very new to this so i dont know a lot just no. is it an achieveable goal to go from 5'7 to about 5'9(about 2 inches?)  my wingspan is 174.5 and sitting height is 94cm. I'm considering Dr.Guichet and already booked a consultation with him, he seems to be a good choice. What do you think about my goals?
thanks a ton, tom

Another austrian here on the forum  My goal of 2 inches Where did that 0.5 come from? I read that the austrian average is spot on 180. Two inches seem like a resonable amount, will your parents support you financially?
Edit: I'm austrian as well. Are you from the east or the west If I may ask?

Hi ttomy,

I'm from Germany (the very south) and the average height is exactly 180cm as well.
I'm only 161cm and I'm going to lengthen 9-10cm, split into two surgeries, which seems to be the maximum for my body proportion-wise.
Since your starting height is ~167cm, I think your personal max. would be around 10-11cm, without making you look odd to others.
But it depends on your body/appearance and numbers about your proportions are only indications.

Your goal to lengthen by "just" two inches, sounds very reasonable to me.
It could be done on just one segment, tibia or femur.
Tibia is easier and there is a rule of thumb to not lengthen your shins more than 5-6cm (your desired 2 inches).
Femur can handle a little more lengthening.

I also live in Germany, I am around Köln and average height seems to be around 180 as well, though in my uni I would not exagerate to say that averge height is around 183.
