I have read some diaries; but hoping that CLL veterans of the Precise or Stryde can chime in and let me know how the nail removal recovery went.
How soon were you able to walk?
How much pain were you in?
Did you lose your glute muscles again as you did for CLL?
Anything other noteworthy details?
Any detail possible would be appreciated.
All the Best,
IFS

Just wanted to know what you thought about Conway performing quadrilateral lengthening( 2 inches in femurs and 2 in tibias) four weeks apart. I have been in contact with her and she has relayed to me that she has performed many of these surgeries. I think that although itd be an uphill battle... i'd almost prefer one big war then two seperate battles. What do you think as someone who has spaced out the surgeries?
Hi DreamingTall!,
To be completely honest, my CLL experience was very difficult. Even with the Stryde nail; my legs just did not tolerate weight-bearing very well until after a couple of months; so for me personally; it was probably best that I focused on the femurs. I am 90% sure I will not do the Tibia's, but NEVER SAY NEVER!
My opinion is that I cannot imagine doing quadrilateral at my condition. But, if you're young and strong like, Movie is (another patient on here), I'd say you probably are in a good position to try it. For me personally, 37, weak legs to start, low flexibility...it was wise to focus on one segment at a time.
Quote from: Purushrottam on September 13, 2019, 10:56:33 PMI don’t remember the details fully but you could “walk out”. I was escorted with crutches because
1. The surgeon (Roz) anticipated a longer than usual operation, so gave me a higher dose of anesthesia. I wasn’t allowed to leave the hospital until it wore off. Because they were afraid I was not fully anesthesia free they recommended that I use crutches. My balance was slightly off and they didn’t want me to fall. I was walking w.o crutches the next day. By Monday I went to work (surgery was Friday) and had no issues with stairs/walking. Even my colleagues didn’t notice a limp.
One of my legs got a little worse a few days later and I limped for a few days. Besides that, no issues.
Thank you, Purush. Extremely helpful and promising. I anticipate having my Rods removed in March 2020...about that time and hoping to get back to simply walking right away. My initial surgery for CLL was rough and I feel like I got back on my feet later than others; so I'm really curious to see how I'll do. I'll keep the community posted.
All the best!
