Direct injury to the nerve is not impossible. especially when lengthening with external fixation and not being completely careful..

So external fixation is riskier than internal fixation? Are there more complications with internal fixation?

it’s not riskier… that would be a simplistic conclusion.

They’re both safe, in the right hands. A good limb lengthening surgeon should not be a one trick pony.

i think he meant lower age and / or more fitness the more you can lengthen
