Guys, I'm going to do 5cm tibias from my 170cm with pure external ilizarov.
Please tell me when I can walk even with crutches?
i want to spent my first month near the clinic and after that i must return to work( office work)
I'm trying to imagine whether I can continue work and doing lengthening by myself.

Walking with frames, around 1 month but using painkillers. However I don't walk every day.
It may be possible with a wheel chair as well.

My thread detailing it: http://www.limblengtheningforum.com/index.php?topic=9418.0

I don't know how much TSF frames differ from pure external Illizarov but I was supposed to start walking (starting with a few steps) with a walker from the second day after surgery. My surgery was on the 15th of October. I still can only walk with a walker (and I'm very slow). I imagine it will still take quite a while until I can use crutches. I am advised to try to walk everyday even if I have some pain, even if it's just for some steps.

Yes, you'll be in decent enough shape to take a taxi to the clinic. I was able to go to my first consultation, and I have 2 floors of stairs to overcome, and the hospital doesn't even have a ramp in Azerbaijan. You'll need painkillers and a bit of help, you'll be fine.

Mostly caused from the pain, hence the strong painkillers initially. And yes people have been known to walk sooner, everyone is different.

getting in and out of the taxi with huge heavy metal jails on ur legs will be troublesome task if ur doing that often. other than that you should be able to walk a few steps after surgery.

yeah, I do not suppose to run immediately after the operation, I mean in 2-3-4 weeks after surgery be able to walk with crutches to get to the office and other places if needed
