I'm trying to get info on this process as I just heard about it from my orthopedic surgeon.
I have a shortened Ulna as a result of a removal of a benign bone tumor I had when I was a child. I'm a 31yo male and I would consider myself an athlete. I do a lot of weightlifting (around 2hrs a day) including Olympic lifts, power lifting, gymnastics moves, cardio, and others. Missing a part of the connective bone between the wrist and my hand has limited me in the amount of weight I am able to lift as well as in both Pulling and pressing movements (i.e.- bench press, overhead presses, pushups, pullups, rows, etc.)
My wrist, and subsequently, my elbow, have always given me issues but not until the last 2.5 years had it really been too much of an issue. I recently had a surgery on my elbow to remove a bone spur and bone fragmentation. Now that I'm done with all the recovery and PT, my wrist feels worse than before the surgery.
My goal in looking into LL would be to increase my athletic performance, primarily, as well as to relieve the pain I have when I do any sort of lifting, even if its not wrist intensive.
1. I have not seen anything anywhere of people getting LL on the arm/hand/wrist, only leg. So is this even possible?
2. Am I being totally ridiculous to think this surgery will help?
3. Is the cost, risks, recovery time and process even worth it?
Thank you all.
