I made a very interesting experience with my height in two different countries.

In "middle school" in Germany I was confronted with my height almost every single day. Especially the ones who weren't that much taller always reminded me of how small I am. Not always in a mean way, they just had fun doing that like children. Since girls were still attracted to me (they maybe thought I would grow sometime) I could manage the psychological frustration of being the smallest in my grade. Some just feel good about themselves degrading others. So I responded to one of the guys who commented about my height (he wanted to feel better):"At least I get girls unlike you" then he was silent.

Then I made a student exchange year in the U.S in high school in the northwest and my experience was totally different. During the whole year only one single guy commented on my height. I almost forgot my height because the school was much more diverse, many guys from mexico and asia were there. It felt like no one cared about superficial things. I constantly was complimented about my appearance. I was even called beautiful, cute or hot. In Germany I almost never had that experience. On my very first day (not lying) a taller girl than me was interested in me and another girl sometime later asked me if I like taller girls, too.

When my time in the U.S. was almost over I was pretty sad because I knew exactly that my height will bother me again and I was right. As soon as I got back, people were talking about my height again, but I was mentally stronger now. I wasn't mad about them anymore, I just didn't take them serious.

I don't know if I would have done LL If I grew up in a liberal city in the U.S. where it is diverse with every size...

Has someone had similar experiences?

In the middle East height seems also to play a role but more for the rich and independent people who have a choice.

I think the U.S. in itself is too diverse/big as to generalise how the people are. I had the best experience but I guess it would have been different in another city/village there.
