Shorter people are better for the environment (consume less resources), develop fewer health problems, and live longer than tall people, generally speaking. Great height is really only advantageous socially - I mean ever since guns and other weapons were brought into the equation, the physical advantages of being tall only really apply in organized sports. But the social advantage that height brings is huge, and I think most people would take the disadvantageous of being tall if they could have the height since the benefits are primarily social, and humans are social creatures.
Quote from: Deads on December 01, 2015, 03:05:49 PMOh and FYI... Just thought I'd add in. I used to hang around a bunch of guys ranging from 6"- 6"2. I don't hang out with them anymore because (to put it nicely) they aren't going anywhere in life.. They sit at home smoking weed and playing video games. They rarely go out and socialise.. They're all not bad looking.. I would take pride in my appearance, get out in the sun regularly so I had a good glow about me, went to the gym and had a good bod. Went out regularly and socialised. I would push myself socially. For example, if the idea of going up and starting a conversation with a group of girls felt uncomfortable. I went out and did it.
My success with women and in general socially was great! Not to boast, but before I became exclusive with my gf, I was sleeping with a new woman every 3-4 weeks. My "friends" had very little (and some had zero) success and their self esteem sucked. So jam that into your statistics. A 5"6 guy having more success with women and in general socially than his 6"+ mates.
When it comes to women height is over rated.
I want to add that my experience has been the same. When I was 5'5"-5'6" I didn't have much problems with success and women. I didn't sleep with a new woman every few weeks, but I never had much of a gap between girlfriends. Girls were just lining up to be with someone who's successful and has a lot going on in his life. The only time I think my height is a disadvantage is when a girl is taller than me and doesn't give me a chance. BUT, it didn't matter, because there were plenty of other girls who didn't mind my height. This is why I warn people considering LL to not do it to get dates. If you can't get dates when you're short, then it probably will not make much difference when you're taller.
Uppland,
In your opinion the best height is 8+cm above average.
In U.s average is about 177cm, meaning 185 would be perfect range. When you put on shoes you would be around 188cm. Then should 182cm be perfect range to account for shoe increase?
When I first joined here I thought 6'1 was the perfect height, however there seems to be many people more informed then me claiming above 6'0 is redundant.

Not like there is one "ideal" height but yes 8 cm above average would be comfortably tall and overall very "good". People that say anything above ' is redunt mean that being 183 cm tall is enough, i.e at that height you would not have to worry about being short.
Everything above 180 is fine imo. Many women consider your height accetable once you hit the magical 8 instead of 7 as the second digit. So the difference between 179 and 180 is bigger than any height increase above that.
I'd personally be happy with 183, since it's a realistic goal without having to suffer from a large loss of atlethicsm or proportions.
I comletely agree with Alittletooshort. Everything above 180 cm is fine. You are taller than approximately 60% of men and you are starting to be considerably taller then almost every woman.
Perfect height for me would be in range 183 - 185 cm. I love sport and I noticed that most best athletes fall into this range. In NFL combine players who have this height are doing great results in bench press, vert jump and brad jump. After about 185 your athleticism is getting worse. Size is not enough because strength comes also from the nerve system(explosiveness) which is getting worse as height increase. I don't even consider very tall people(>190) very attractive.
Uppland have you ever played any sport? Why do you think 191 is the perfect height? Just for the sake of being taller that almost every man? I am just curious.

It's because I'm from Sweden and have an inflated sense of height, a 190 cm man will not tower people where I live but he would be comfortably tall. I do not play sports but aren't many athletes tall as well?
Quote from: Deads on December 01, 2015, 02:44:40 PMThe average height for a woman in Australia is 5"3. At 5"6 I'm taller or equal to most women I come into contact with..
I'm not sure how's that possible. I'm 5'5'' and I've interacted with quite a few Aussies in Thailand, a significant amount of Aussie girls were taller than I - 40 to 50% of the girls probably - The tall ones were in the range of 5'6'' to 5'9''. Don't recall EVER coming across an Aussie Man as short as I, i.e. 5'5''. Most of the Men were well built and in the range of 5'11' to 6'. Girls, generally, were beautiful and slim. Although the Aussie guys, in general, were tall but there was this guy, a Plumber from some town near Melbourne, standing at 6'2''(I asked him) and when I compared him to other guys(Russians, Germans, Britons and Aussies), the guy stood out among the crowd. Ad I agree with the rest of your post. As long as I'm as tall as the girl, I'm least bothered by her height. Problem is the heels girls wear. Girls, on average, wear heels 6 to 10 CM - Men's shoes lift them 1 to 2 CM at most - So to be as tall as the girl outdoors, guy must be 2 to 3" taller than the girl and considering the average height of young western girl, I'd say my minimum target-height would be 5'10".

I got that info from the Australian Bureau of Statistics. It made sense to me cause I'm 5"6 and around 80% of women are shorter or of equal height to me. You get a good number of 5"7 to 5"8 girls but they and I don't really notice a height difference... Then there are the 5"9 to 5"10 girls, but they aren't as common.
Come to Queensland, Australia sometime. You'll see what I mean. Plenty of shorties.
Just to add my bit in here,
I'm 201cm and that means that any tall girl 5ft10+ I've automatically got a date "I can wear heals with you" is the usual one.
Fortunatly for me my type of girl is 6ft blonde big boobs and I don't have any trouble pulling that at all.
The downside is that the average girl is about 5ft6 and I can often intimidate them. I've had a few girls 5ft1 sort of size say they could never date someone my size..
The thing where it comes in most though is with the other guys (no I'm not gay).. The bigger you are around a bunch of lads the more "respect" you get. It depends on the extent.. No one ever starts a fight with me.. Infact people deliberately walk over to tell me they wouldn't fight me.. Great if you wanna scare of other blokes but if your a 5ft4 petite girl it can be very intimidating..
On the other side there are still girls who love that I'm so huge.. On a night out I often get aproached and have girls ask how tall I am.. Then my hands size.. Then feet.. Then... Well you can guess.
Depends what your after..
As for athletics it depends on the sport.. I'll never be a gymnast or a body builder.. But worlds strongest man or basketball player? No problem.
Downside to being tall.. Putting on weight.. A shorter guy can go to the gym and get massive in no time and have a great squat/bench.. At my height it takes ages to get any noticeable gains in muscle and I often have to dirty bulk just to put any weight on at all.. My bench is crap (120kg) but my deadlift is fantastic (350kg)
