Hi guys, i am 25 y o, my height is 177cm, wingspan 179 cm.
I want to do 5 cm on each segment. I did some mock ups but i dont' understand why on the 1st one i look good at 187 cm but on the 2nd one i look totally ugly. Maybe i did something wrong? What u think of my proportions? People always say i have broad shoulders (they are only 46-47 cm though) so my height to witdh ratio is not gonna be so bad but what worries me is my arm lenght and my torso lenght. Especially the torso lenght since AL is available now.
What do u think, guys? Can i pul off 187 cm height?

Quote from: GROWtalORdieTRYING1 on October 02, 2014, 08:06:45 PM7.5cm should be the maximum. after that you are asking for trouble.

I assume you are only planning 1 surgery. and don't want 2.

thats what i was planning for years (7 cm on tibia + bowed legs correction would bring me to 185 cm which is great heihgt), but now im afraid of my tibias getting too long for the femurs so i started thinking of 2 operations (cross-lateral).

Quote from: Taller on October 02, 2014, 09:24:46 PMDo you have any actual plans to do the surgery? If so, which doctor(s) are you considering and why?

Yes, im considering Dr. Bagirov from Moscow since i live there and his pricing is not too high.
I also think of going to St-Petersbourg  (700 km from me) because pricing there is even lower.
Both clinics have good feedback on russian LL forums.

Quote from: Taller on October 02, 2014, 09:38:52 PMIf you do end up going there, it would be tremendously appreciated if you wrote a diary of your experiences on this site. Both of those locations are very strong contenders on my list of places to have tibial LL done and I, along without others on this forum, would love to hear about and learn from your experience.

Anyways, best of luck, regardless of whether or not you end up doing LL.

Thanks man, if i go for LL i will write it but i need to save up some $$.
Just checked my registration date on the other LL forum: 25 feb 2008. LOL 7 years and still 177 cm.
What i like in Bagirov is that his devices are really small and can be hidden under wide pants easily. They are so small so u can even use them on ur femurs without problem. Cost is like 6 000 $ and it's really close to my home. But i dont even have these 6k ATM.
St-Petersbourg's 3000 $ sound sooo exciting but they are regular Ilizarovs devices, big and cant be hidden. I think i should do 5 cm tibias in Petersburg then wait 1-2 years and get my both femurs done with Bagirov. Sounds realistic?

Quote from: Uppland on October 02, 2014, 09:34:52 PMProportions are weird mate I found out my wingspan is 5 cm shorter than my height and yet my arms are the same lenght (61 cm) as my dad and he's 187 -I'm 179-. I got a tip that sound conclusive enough: get some shoe lifts so that you stand at 189 cm and see if you look normal, although remember that height will go into your longer legs so never mind your knee position.

Whats ur dad's wingspan man?

Quote from: Wannabegiant on October 02, 2014, 11:10:55 PMYou should be aware that Bagirov does not do femur lengthening, so if you want to do femurs you should do that at the clinic in st Petersburg.

wtf, doesnt he? many times i've heard that he does external femur lengthening and it's clearly said on his site. why u think he doesnt, man?

Quote from: GROWtalORdieTRYING1 on October 02, 2014, 11:20:23 PM5 cm per segment is a god goal.

to be honest though, because you have a really good starting height and you said you have already been waiting 7 years...... do you really want to do 1 surgery and then wait another 7 years?

would 6cm on tibia only be enough? or you recon you would need a second surgery? how long do you think you would need to save for to afford both surgeries?

its amazing when you look back at when you first leant about LL and suddenly realize how many years have passed before you actually get LL.

yes now im thinking of lengthening just my tibias (5 - 5.5  cm + bowed leg correction) then recover and then decide if i need femur lengthening. Maybe crosslateral LL is actually bad idea for me. I am not sure if 183 cm height is worth breaking my legs and taking a year out of my life, though. Is it big difference to 177 cm?

I have really big head (have been suffering from it for all my life) so with becoming taller im going to make it look more proportional. I reckon 183 is still average height and people still tend to have average sized heads at this height. But 185-188 cm tall people tend to have bigger heads, in my opinion. Maybe im wrong, though.

If i go to St-Petersbur i will need like a couple of months to afford 1 surgery and couple of months for another one.
If i go to Bagirov then i need like a year to save up for 1 surgery  Want to go from 177 to 187 cm

Quote from: GROWtalORdieTRYING1 on October 03, 2014, 06:45:39 PM183 is not average no matter where you are in the world.

where are you from anyway?

I recommend 6cm tibia. make it to 183 and be happy at that height.

LL is not suppose to take up your entire life spanning literally decades.

i mean not average, but not tall. it's just normal height. not average but not tall as well.

im from Moscow, Russia.

Quote from: ReadRothbard on October 03, 2014, 06:35:38 PMIt shouldn't take a year to recover from 5 cm unless you are bad luck incarnate. For 5 cm, it will be between 5-7.5 months for externals and about 4-5 months internals.

yes, it shouldn't, but from patients diaries i can say many ppl experience some complications during their lengthening and total time in frames is like a year for 5-6 cm

btw, guys, don't u think my tibias are long already? i look at my legs and cant decide which segment needs more length, i look totally proportional to myself now Want to go from 177 to 187 cm

Quote from: exclide on October 03, 2014, 09:19:41 PMIf your head is 26 cm in height, then you lengthened 6.85 cm in your tibia only mockup and 8.6 cm in your tibia-femur mockup. I do pixel science.

Here's 5cm mockup.

i think i placed camera too low because my legs are too long in this photo what makes me ugly long legged freak in every mockup. i think this angle is better and reveals my real proportions better.

Quote from: exclide on October 04, 2014, 10:06:34 AMIf you add some muscle mass, especially in your legs, IMO you can get away with 10 cm, but 5cm would be easier and much faster.

Can you tell me the distance between the ground and your belly button (under it). У меня у самого было 95 см до пупка до операции, хочу сравнить.

yh i think its because of lack of muscle mass i look like a   in mock ups.

It is approximately 107 cm, depends on how much i unbend. Когда первый раз мерил, то вышло 103 см, сам не понял как.
