Quote from: musicmaker on February 18, 2015, 12:09:24 AMIt's true that weight can be more easily modified than height and that fat men are also negatively judged, but I don't think society is more exigent with male appearance than with female appearance. Evidence suggests that the contrary is true. Many males compensate their lack of physical attributes with wealth and status, whereas this is not possible for women. Women must always be slim, beautiful and young, because, if they aren't, their man, given the choice, will replace them sooner of later by another one who fulfills all these requirements. This is very sad, but happens very often.

status is much more difficult to have than to be Slim. So society is much more exigent with mans than with womans.

Quote from: KirP1 on February 17, 2015, 11:46:59 PMi dont think that weight is an female is a good equivalent to height in males. Weight could be changed by exercise/diet , height cant be changed except by LL, so i find more exact the super tall women or the super short one. Weight is also important in males as over weight ones are negatively judged .

Society is more exigent with male physic than womans physic.

Male:

-Tall
-Beautifull face
-muscular ripped body (in some cases these bodys need to use anabolic steroids to be reached)

Girl:

-normal face
-big tits or big boot
-Slim

what is more difficult to be? who will date more ?

funnily enough ,in the last 25 yrs the standards of women beauty, are the only thing that in constant change ..
10 yrs ago big breast or butt wasn't  sign of beauty .. today there are !..
everything change , the  ideal cheek bone structure, the ideal face feature , etc  ..
and it seems that everything tend to be BIG these days.

while I think the ideal body of man never changed like in 100 yrs ..

so really I wonder who is under real pressure ..?

Quote from: Medium Drink Of Water on February 18, 2015, 12:19:22 AMI think it is weight.  The fact that short guys can succeed in Hollywood doesn't matter.  Tom Cruise had to stand on a platform in Top Gun to do scenes with Kelly McGillis, but nobody saw that.  Few people actually see him in person much less stand next to him.  As for male strippers, I bet the customers would prefer a tall stripper all else being equal.

In terms of being invisible to the opposite sex based on physical features, I think it is indeed height for men and weight for women.

I understand what you are saying, but the fact that there are short male sex symbols or short male stripper at all makes me dispute the height = weight claim. After all, even the plus sized models mentioned above aren't mainstream sex symbols--they're niche.

In mans it change too. Do you know metrosexual. Lumbersexual? etc. Is changing for both mans and womans. But for mans is more exigent. You could add penis size to the ecuation i posted before. What is the female equivalent of height in female attractivness?

The harsh reality is that every female body type has its fanbase but not all male body types are seen as hot only some. The equivalent is also height mostly, if you ask a man if he could choose a woman they would date short ( but they have little choice since women are the ones who choose ). Things like @ss or t@ts are split fanbases with almost half of the men preferring one and the other half preferring the other.

I think a short guy = a fat woman. Less people like them (sexually), but I must admit, there would be some who are OK with them or like them. For friends, I don't mind a short guy or  a fat lady.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

And this, in my opinion, is one of the reasons that women have it easier in dating. Fat girls can stop being fat. Short men have one EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND EXPENSIVE way to get taller. So, on average, women have it much easier.

But ugly women (regardless of weight) have it the hardest, because a generally-ugly woman really can't compensate with anything (I, for one, don't give a crap how rich or "confident" she is, even though looks aren't everything). Ugly men (even short ugly men, although those are two major strikes) can at least compensate with money/status and confidence, to a degree.

if fat women lost weight, they are healthier..
if short men get taller, they sacrifice some health
