Dr. Mahboubian above Dr. Rozburch? Dr. Debiparshad above Dr. Assayag? No way lol. They should be towards the bottom of USA Doctors. Dr. Debiparshad gave one(maybe more) patient knock knees which is a "rookie mistake" and entirely preventable, and Dr. Mahboubian is a salesman who's bread and butter now is cosmetic patients.
Dr. Lee may be an absolutely fantastic surgeon, but due to Korean culture I am weary about seeing him. There have been patients on this forum talking about him dismissing their concerns. I won't get into the nitty gritty, but this is largely rooted in Korean culture having a strong sense of "respect your elders" and "don't question your superiors/boss" etc.
Take a look below if you're curious:

There's might be articles that say "No no no, there's no way Korean culture, heavily influenced by Confucianism, could be partially to blame." It's comical because I lived in Korea and have many Korean friends, and it's still very well strong and alive today lol. It's like saying Americans don't like cheeseburgers
Just look at patient testimonials about Dr. Lee backing this up. He is a fantastic and extremely experienced surgeon, but the culture aspect worries me. Just my personal opinion especially after living in Korea and seeing this first hand, but I would never tell someone he's bad or to avoid him.

While I agree with your general assessment of Rozbruch being above both Mahboubian and Debiparshad, what's wrong with salesmanship? I feel like the only negative things anyone has to say about Dr. M is that he does TikTok videos and uses memes to make sales lol.
Imo, for US surgeons:
- Tier 1: Paley and Rozbruch
- Tier 2: Assayag and Mahboubian
- Tier 3: Debiparshad
And US surgeons > all other surgeons (except for Lee, Gdalevitch, and Birkholtz).

I'm weary of surgeons that push salesmen-like tactics when it comes to this procedure, rather than the ones that do it as an "necessary evil" like Dr. Paley and Dr. Birkholtz, for example. Making memes and lighthearted jokes about this procedure, in my opinion, downplays the severity and brutish nature of it in order to drive up sales. There is a ridiculous amount of money to be made in CLL, since it's a money-up-front, no insurance involved like Plastic Surgery(Except in unique circumstances).
I have seen no evidence showing that Dr. Mahboubian is a "bad" surgeon, but his actions are worrisome to me and I would personally not have him in my Top 3.
Thank you for this. I did not know many of these options.
Quote from: Dre42 on July 15, 2023, 05:19:21 PMHi all,
I'm currently making a spread sheet of all the doctors I'm considering for doing this surgery. My goal is to lengthen both femurs and tibias for a total gain of 10cm. Obviously there are lots of factors to consider when picking a clinic & doctor to work with: cost, location, reputation, method used, etc.
I started making an on-line data base of current practicing surgeons that perform this surgery in the world. I think it may be helpful to someone who is currently contemplating on picking a clinic. You can sort by column based on the parameter that is important to you: cost, reputation, method, etc. You can also just copy the template and start building your own lists.
I'm adding more doctors to this, it's by no means a complete list. The reputation score is my subjective opinion based on what I've heard about the doctor up to this point. I am open to suggestions, opinions & comments about this spreadsheet.

why is Assayag rated poorly compared to all other US doctors? He honestly seems the most down to earth out of them all
This spreadsheet seems to be more of an ad for Turkey than anything.

Yeap totally it is.
Dr Birkholtz deserves to be in the top 5, easily.
He is a proper orthopaedic surgeon, he specialises in reconstructive orthopaedic surgery and has performed literal miracles when it comes to many trauma cases. He has extensive knowledge/background in CLL, has trained with/trained members of Paleys team and US surgeons.
He is widely respected by US surgeons - go and ask them yourself.
He , in my view, has decades of experience over some of the excellent, world class but younger US surgeons, and is miles ahead of anyone in Europe.
I have X-rays with him tomorrow, and guess what he's doing this week? Delivering a talk at an orthopaedic conference on: "Bone Infection and also on external fixation for pilon tibial fractures."
Bags of humility but this guy is on another planet. Absolutely world class.
