Hey RGKEY

just wondering how long it took after the day of your surgery until you could walk without aid? I mean i have been trying these past days after my knee bend problem (from the infection) was gone, but my balance is still pretty bad, and when im standing on one leg to move the other to walk it still feels like the pressure on my knee on the leg which i am standing on (close to where the pins are) gets to heavy.

it doesnt hurt but feels a bit sore and sensitive when the pressure gets high enough.

im 2 months post op now, so im wondering if i should be able to walk now. Although regardless i feel lots of improvement in my legs since i slowed down lengthening to 0.25 a day, so maybe il soon be able to walk.

For me it was a little different than usual. I btoke many pins, but I remember 7 days post op I was walking without crutches. Usually people start walking without help 2weeks or 1 month post lengthening. One guy here walked without any help 1 month post operation even when he was lengthening he was walking without crutches. So it all depends on how you feel. All the depends on the pain you have and if you how much you can take. I was permanently walking without crutches about a month and a half after I stopped lengthening. You lengthened not so much so you will be walking without help very soon!!

wow that sounds crazy being able to walk 7 days post-op. But maybe with painkillers as well as the fact that its probably easier to keep balance with those large ilizarov frames. Also if you start trying early i guess you dont "forget" how to walk properly like it feels like we do when we use aid for several months.

okey thanks for the info  9 centimeters on tibias with Dr. Barinov, Volgograd-Russia i guess it will be walking without aid soon then, i dont have any pain really, although my knees are a bit sore and it feels scary to put to much pressure there as of now, need to work on my balance as well.

if you dont really have pain while walking, you should be trying really hard walking without any help!)) Im sure you will soon)) yeah you need to get your balance back, just try to walk without crutches maybe use the walls, use one crutch. it seem very difficult but If you have no major pain you should be able to do it)) just try))

yeah i think the problem is my Osgood-Schlatters disease which i had on my left knee when i was younger. I still have a piece of cartilage below the knee from that illness, its really close to the pins. So it hurts a little bit there but mostly its just sore and sensitive. If it wasnt for that i would dare to try already, im not sure how to deal with that problem really, maybe i just have to suck it up and walk anyway because that "pain" is not related to my lengthening at least.
