Quote from: Melikovich on January 02, 2023, 10:09:44 PMRecently I have spoken to a friends cousin who also is a orthopaedic specialist operating in uk and Poland. I asked him about cll, if he offers it or has doctors who he’d recommend .He was disgusted by the words that came out my mouth, he told me off for even mentioning it and said to me I was an idiot for considering it ,even more for trying to do it abroad in Greece or if he had anyone he’d “recommend” for such a thing.
He mentioned that doctors would do anything for money which is why people are allowed to do it cosmetically. The option being there doesn’t mean it should taken, advising me to stray far away.

I completely understand the risks that come with cll but he made it out to be as if it’s more likely to make ur paralysed or dead then it being somewhat successful. The surgery is no joke but I wouldn’t even consider it it wasn’t given my circumstances.

So my question is , am I missing something from this surgery? I’ve done a good amount of research and diary reading to know what I’m getting myself into, but yet a specialist describes it 1000x worse than what I’ve seen. Any reply is really appreciated.

This is a very frequent way of thinking among orthopedic surgeons. We are trained with the idea that “there is no such thing as a prophylactic or cosmetic surgery”

Every surgery’s benefits should outweigh the risks.

This is slowly changing , but your friend’s cousin thinks like 99% of orthopedic surgeons.

I mean you are asking this question in LL forum. What do you expect to get to hear?
Your cousin is right. The longterm consequences are there for sure.
Most LLers will acknowledge you are trading some health for height.
You will never be 100% like before.
No doctor will vouch for it because you expose your self to too many risks.
Look at the diaries then you will know that your cousin is not wrong.
People do it because they have bad depression and want to kill themselves
So they will do anything to get rid of it, even go to a butcher hoping he wont
Fuk their legs up. Your life your decision. If you get lucky you will be happy
If you get complication your life will be hell and you will be financially ruined, Game over.

Who cares what he has to say? Just because he's an orthopedic specialist doesn't mean he knows anything about it (he clearly doesn't) or that his opinion has any weight (it clearly doesn't).
