I'm 21 years old about 5'5 in the morning weighing a little under 150 lbs and healthy. I am not very flexible though. I cannot touch my toes when I sit down and reach, only a few inches away from touching them. When I am laying down and try leg raises I can't get to 90 degrees, only about 65 degrees up. I don't exercise a lot anymore because of college and am sitting in my chair most of the day. Is limb lengthening a possibility for me and will my lack of flexibility mean I can't lengthen too much? Can streching more to loosen up the tight muscles help me?
Thank you!
Can I have limb lengthening done if I'm not very flexible?
Stretching before will help, so you should do it.
Once the bones are lengthened, just the act of standing is a stretch. And walking is stretching + exercise because of the change in biomechanics. You'll probably get back to almost where you are now flexibility-wise without too much extra work.

This is one of the best comment I have seen on the topic.
We have seen a major improvement in length achieved for cosmetic lengthening patients since Stryde nail appeared. The act of Standing alone provided a stretch and decreases muscle tightness

Wow, is it still 5cm on tibias average or are people able to go more?
tibias are not as popular, But yes. still about 5 cm
Ah amazing. So its seems like we have two tools to increase the amount we can safely lengthen tibias aside from PT?
1. Gastro recession
2. Use stryde because the act of being able to stand means you are getting more total stretching in?

Does this mean movement will always be stiff after the surgery?
Only a little.
