Day 237 post op update

Day to day life is normal now and it is as if nothing was ever done to my legs, can still see surgery scars a little bit mainly the ITB scars and the highest scars at each hip as I have developed slight keloid scarring. For those looking to do surgery in the future do not overlook scar care post op, that is one area I neglected because I didn't do much research on it. Please refer to JP's scar care protocol with silicon etc.

I am still heavily considering tibias later this year in July maybe August.

Next xrays coming in March so I will update you all with femur bone growth then, currently im running 9.5 minute miles not quite the high 7 to 8 minute miles as pre surgery but that is due to me taking it easy, if I push myself I feel like I can maybe hit the mid to high 8s.

I'm also keeping precice max on my radar for tibias as if it's available it would be too attractive to pass up. There are several American surgeons im considering if precice max is available by the time I do tibias. Such a shame that both South Africa and South Korea won't be getting precice max as soon as America does

Latest update today is January 28, 2025 (580 days post surgery)
Day to day life now I forget at points of the day I ever had this surgery done. Athletic ability etc is all back to pre surgery levels. I still have my femurs nails in and will be getting them removed this year. Patients who had them removed have told me you feel even more normal after they are removed so idk if it's just my body being completely use to the feeling of nails being in my femurs or what but I feel like pre surgery already but patients further along their journey have told me it will feel even better after the nails are removed.

I still haven't had tibia surgery done yet as we all know by now the precice max situation was an atrocious mess and that nail is not expected to come back anytime soon.

As of now I have 3 surgeons in mind for tibias (Dr. Birkholtz and Dr. Donghoon Lee being two of them) it will really come down to logistics etc as I will be just as happy going with any of these three surgeons I have in mind.

My main reason for doing tibias is i'm in my mid 20s. I know once i'm in my 30s and have kids and i'm married i'll never do this surgery and I know deep down 100% there will come a day I regret not lengthening tibias when i'm in my 30s. To prevent future pain and regret I intend to get 5cm tibias and then live life happily thereafter and put this cosmetic leg lengthening world behind me.

Hi I ended up using primarily walker and wheelchair after the first 10 days and didn't really use crutches much other than getting in and out of the gym at Stellenbosch Academy of Sport! I was just copying and pasting my diary over from d!scord as I feel this forum is still the main resource for prospective patients doing research. And wishing you the best on your own surgery! Fitbone is a great nail regardless!

This guy was lucky, he got 12mm nails, so he could lengthen easily 8 cm and finally no need for tibia surgery anymore...
Such a bad decision to stop at 5.5 cm !

(3 months and 3 weeks post op, precice 2.2 nail, left leg 5.4cm, right leg 5.8cm)

Going up and down stairs

going up and down stairs like that 4 months post op is incredible, good job

i see on your lengthening xrays your right femur started off with what looks like varus deformity - is this on purpose because of that rotational deformity or is it sloppy technique? if its sloppy technique i dont understand the glee when it comes to birkholtz

please comment

dj cyborg xrays of questionable right femur, is this on purpose because of your congenital deformity or its accidental?
