This is pure human anatomy and mathematics.
The femur is at a Q angle and not perfectly in the vertical axis of the body. The femur will lengthen 8 cm, but you are taller by 7.76 cm (for man).

It all depends on the width of the hips. If a man lengthens the femur by 8 cm, he will be taller by 7.76 cm, a woman 7.61 cm.
