You don't have to get a spinal anesthesia. There's a second option but I can't remember what it's called. Still involves needles though.

No, I'll get what the doctor recommends. Not taking chances.
The anesthesiologist recommends either. The other option isn't some shady back-alley deal, lol
Get a tattoo. That'll desensitize you to needles really quick.

I'm actually not afraid of a tattoo needle since it sprays ink, and only scratches the surface. It's not creepy like the other needles that go all the way in. *shudders*

I'm scared crapless of needles to the point I'm far more worried about it than the pain LL comes with, or not walking. When I get an injury, my first thought is "god, hope I don't get an injection for this!" I can't see a video of someone taking an injection without slouching down like a bitch in my seat and covering my eyes. Taking a blood test would be one of the biggest challenges of my life, since I've never even taken one.
I'm not going to "not" do LL because of this, because needles will come around in life now and then anyway. The right thing to do would be to get over this fear..but how? I've had it for life.
I hated it too. I really was afraid of them. But I thought I have to go through this. It is part of the procedure. It is not like you have an option to get injected or not. I got countless needles injected during the whole process. Especially when needles stay in your veins for a couple of minutes or hours!!! I remember that I was so afraid of having an infection, because you were on a drip two times a day for a week or longer. That was a horror imagination for me. I hated it but I said to myself "Just take it". Dont cry about it, just take it... Well I thought that many times during the process. So many times you have to do things you dont want but you have to do.
Yeah, I just want to echo what JFK said. You can choose to be afraid of the needle or not. Either way it will still happen (many times) if you do LL. When we choose to be afraid we are giving permission to empower our phobias. Different people are afraid of different things and that's cool, but needles are an inevitable part of LL, so why over-think it?
I believe in the strength of the human spirit. You just might surprise even yourself: LL might desensitize you enough to needles that you'll overcome your phobia naturally. When a person goes through with LL surgery there's not much in the physical world that can scare you anymore.
Besides, you can always just look away and count to ten.
Hey Penguinn,
Sorry bro... Apparently, telling someone with needle phobia to "just do it" is not really considerate, nor helpful...
I just came across this site, it has some clinically tested ways of treating needle phobia:
http://www.needlephobia.com/
Hope it helps!
Thank you.
And I've already been to that site, Glenn. Haha.
