Quote from: indian on April 08, 2021, 05:48:05 AMThey will test you before surgery for hiv and everything. There is no proof that infection risk is 2% in India and 1 % is west. It's complete BS.

Testing for HIV before surgery has nothing to do with getting it through blood transfusion. What is the relation? Blood is sourced from the government or other third party blood banks which is poorly regulated in India. If they do cheap testing which does not detect presence of HIV early on (some tests give correct results days after infection but some do only after weeks, so there is a window when the results are wrong), then they might have infected blood.

And general infection rate would probably be higher in India because it's more unhygienic but I don't have data to back this up.

You said you have to test before the surgery so that you can sue if you get it after that so I am saying they do it so that you can't sue. Forget about LL fix your bain first.

$$$

We have self blood donation before surgery and I'm just super disappointed it doesn't exist in India.

You can go to any private blood bank and ask them to store your blood for you no one will say no to that.

Chances of the deep bone infection is more than HIV. You can ask to your doctor to give you information about the % of the deep bone infection at his practice. In Europe the risk is less than 1%, in India it might be higher but I do not know.

cheers,
sergio

This surgery is a big risk so unless your life sucks so much that you rather die the surgery is not worth it.

Dear indian,

I wish you to consider the psychological treatment if you feel such dangerous thoughts. this operation is very difficult and it will test your mental strength. I have met patients who told me they wanted to quit on the second day itself.

And I wish to apologise to you for saying anything about this operation in India. I don't know anything about the safety there and I think it would varies from one doctor to another. There would be good doctors and bad doctors everywhere. I just told to everyone to find the rate of the deep bone infection at your hospital.

Thanks,
sergio

You are misjudging me. I was saying it in a sarcastic way. I see you guys are soo worried and saying it's 1 % here 2 % there. Even if it's 1 % in one country and 2 % in another how do you know if you're gonna be in that 1% or 2% or not. It's just stupid what you guys have been thinking and commenting about. It's a risky surgery so grow a pair and do it if you really want to.

Are you really planning for the operation soon indian? If you are and you still have this braveness mindset then I really appreciate it and wish you the good luck for this operation and recovery. Because I was also not concerned much about the complications and always thought that I would not become unlucky, until I sent the email to reserve the operation date. When they asked to me to confirm then I asked to them for more time and have not been able to get the good sleep every night thinking about this.
