Quote from: Kotiki on September 15, 2018, 01:39:56 AMThere are many reliable surgeons doing externals in Russia in many cities (Moscow, Volgograd, Kurgan to name a few). And it doesn't even cost Eur6k. Foreigners are charged much more than the locals. (I'm Russian).

But external lengthening is a young man's game. I'm assuming, a woman in her 30s is not necessarily keen to spend up to a 1.5 years in bulky frames. She might have children, a demanding job and a busy life. Scars from externals are also much worse than surgical scars. Sometimes, even surgical revision can't improve them. I don't know what the OP's reasons are but these would be mine.

A woman with children and a demanding job should not do LL unless if she is under 1.50-1.52.

Even then, for 6cm she doesn't need more than 8 months on frames. And with frames she can walk from the first weeks so she can do almost everything.
Scaring is a thing though but scars from ilizarov are not big and with cosmetic surgery they could be minimized.

Maybe I should just suck it up and do externals.. I am 153 and very short tibias. 5 cm is all I want and would even settle for 4. Main goal - improve proportions of the body.

But you see, there are plenty of girls on Russian forums who didn't even lengthen, just corrected the varus deficiency and took 8 months in frames. Time in frames is highly individual and tends to be longer in your 30s.

I wish they came up with a reliable treatment to heal fractures faster.. then I would do externals and would not worry about the scars. But as it is, STRYDE looks very attractive.

I’m taller than you but my tibias are thin and 8.5 mm nail was recommended.
So it means I cannot use the thinnest Stryde 10mm.
It’s better to check X-ray to know bone size before deciding the nail or methods.
