well u state 100's have done it this alone for years, men and women and - INCLUDING CHILDREN!! - exactly my point - i very much doubt ur knees were swelling like balloons - and you have just broken ur legs - so you have to expect pain!!
if u can lay down and eat you can also brush ur teeth and wash ur face from the bed if you have too!! - i have already stated that a nurse or fellow patient may be around to help and of course it is difficult the first three days or so - but motivation and attitude are everything in this procedure - ask any doctor -
i am sure you would have walked the first few days if your life depended on it
and 15 days is way too long to still be struggling
the first few days are more a mental question of whether or not you have done the right thing in voluntarily breaking ur legs...
the doctor will make a psychological assessment before the procedure - to ascertain if the patient has the required mental strength/awareness to successfully follow due process - and doctor's instructions - attitude, like everything in life is everything - it doesn't stop just because u are wearing frames!!
many patients are not prepared for the surgery - they get a shock and then realise they have to work at recovery!! basics man...

People who were really in shape then lost it have better results, because their soft tissue is stretched from mass gain already. Non smokers is a huge factor, age is a big factor you will heal faster at 20 than you will at 30-40-50, you can still do ll but recovery is faster.
I believe weight is a big factor, I was walking 1 week unassisted post surgery I weight about 125-130
look at this perfect example - walking unassisted one week after surgery !!!!
can't be brutal then surely!!

Quote from: dexter1930 on June 01, 2021, 02:21:29 AMcan't agree more. Do you think LL patients can undergo this surgery all alone or is it a whole world better to have someone by your side from the begining to an end, like full time care taker helping with physical needs and mental fortitude.
u actually originally questioned mental fortitude urself!!
lol, your ego is through the roof, I posted this to have a civil conversation with the forum users to kill my time. Engaging with fellow LL patients is fun during this lockdown since I have been at home for the past 2 months. Here are some footage taken when I was in the hospital and doing physical therapy at home

so what? on day 10th I also walked unassisted and it was quite painful but what is the point of walking unassisted at the early stage of this long journey, to prove to whom? are you stupid? My doctor doesn't advise me to walk without the walker because simply it's not safe so I would rather listen to him and preserve the integrity of the metal rods, last thing people would want to happen is getting back to the op-room before the end of distraction phase. I'm trying to prove my point that a caretaker is important, he/she would make your life so easier through this journey even you CAN do it yourself but why don't make your life easier to have someone on your side and help you through this.
without the help of someone, it's just impossible to do those things. Attitude or motivation won't help in this case because your body is just too weak to do those things.
not sure what u mean by ego being through the roof - no need to get personal with adhominen attacks - why not answer the basic points raised?
children can do it - but not me!!!
above you state attitude or motivation won't help - you can't have it both ways!!
this is a perfectly civil conversation - prospective patients can assess for themselves what mindset to develop
with this much confidence, I assume you have done the surgery yourself easy AF. With how much you repeated about mental toughness, I also assume you are 6'5 300pounds well built. therefore, I would like to learn something from your personal experience, a motivational speech or some secret exercises so they can ease my pain to 0 and help sprint right after removing my frames
Why are you trying to deny other's people experience lol. I would like to hear a story from your LL experience first 7 days. Keep in mind, everyone has different pain med protocols, it depends on the doctor, idk if mine was mild or intense but the first week was hurt like hell and no way I could be comfortable being alone. That's how I felt, and for most people as well
