Hey guys,

I just would like to know from LL veterans here..Is the risk of the surgery very low if I decide to go for just 5 cm?I know it is less to lengthen  but I do not want to have any complications whatsoever..

Not yet quite a veteran here but as I have already passed 5cm I can tell you that everyone is very individual. You have to really listen to your body and constantly consult with your doctor. For me when I passed 5cm I felt a bit more nerve pain and a burnng sensation and because of that I take more breaks now. Just my two cents.

I'm doing 5.5 cm femurs and Giotikas says it will be tough because this surgery is always hard. However, in terms of complications, 5-6 cm is a conservative goal, and he says that there should not be complications. It gets more dangerous over 6.

Most of the doctors say the same thing..I guess if you are really worried about safety - choosing 5 cm would be wise..

At 5cm your risks will be very low (so long as there is not a surgical error aka pick a good doc). 6cm is moderate risks and 7cm+ is considered the most risky, but of course this is all relative aka 8cm is much riskier than 5cm but still considered safe otherwise top docs wouldn't allow it and the stryde nail systems wouldn't be 8cm.

8 cm is never completely safe..Soft tissues will have some or the problem in the future..With 5 cm, their stretching power is pretty good..

It is unfortunate some have to learn this with experience. I have just passed 6cm and will stop now.

I know man but I am going to be 171cm which i am completely content with so why bother doing more? At the start everyone is greedy but once you get taller you care less and less day by day and i have reached a point where I do not think about height anymore.
