I'd say 160 is in India. In the US it's probably 170.

How about in Asia like China or Japan?

165? 170?

Did you feel the Japanese youngsters are quite tall in your recent visit? Lots of them approaching 6 ft.

May wanna consider the Philippines or Vietnam, the average heights there are around 5"4, and both countries are beautiful.

Average height doesn't mean much in India. India is a highly unequal country.
The Uppercaste/ashraf are tall. Lowercaste/ajlaf are short.

People in cities are average 5 foot 9 to 10.
People in tier 3 cities or villages might be 5 foot 1 to 2.
There's a gigantic difference.

Look at Parihar. The guy is 6'3. Why? Because he's a rajput. One of the most superior castes of Hindu society. Just below the Brahmins. Had he been an ansari Muslim he would be 5 foot 1 or 2 at max. Not even exaggerating.

So.average doesnt mean much in India. Average income is 10 thousand per Month here and Im telling you even 70-80 thousand a month is peanuts. You won't be able to send your children to a private english medium school. At least 2 lac a month is needed for a normal humane lifestyle.

This level of inequality is not there in the US. Or China or Japan or anywhere in the world.

So the measure of central tendency where you would try to take the average(mean) as the representative number is meaningless. You try to correct the extreme value effect by taking median and it would be just as useless. I'd say there are 5-6 stratas of height depending on outside genes and income level. Malnutrition certainly is bad for growth. Exactly why Bengalis are slightly shorter than the rajasthanis or punjabis

I see. Thanks for telling this. So basically the rich families in India are super tall, just like Amsericans where men could easily reach 6 ft.

Rich +upper caste.

Although I'm a brahmin. But my mom's side is kayastha. So although my grandpa, great grandpa were both 6'3 and 6'4 respectively , I am 5'5 because of my mom being barely 5 foot. My best guess is 4'8/9 or something. F liberal values.

(Note -I probably wouldn't even be considered a brahmin lol)

You are an idiot. DNA wise all mainland Indians are the same. The height difference b/w rich and poor is due to nutrition. Race wise all are the same.

Yes you sir know more about my country than me. Hundreds of studies are there comparing ancestry of different communities. Jats, rajputs, brahmins, yadavs, pathans ,syeds, mughals. You think all Indians are the same?
The difference is because of migration and european/Celtic genes. Race wise we are not the same.

Go to a backward colony in a poor village of brahmins or jats or rajputs. They're significantly taller than others. Do the same with pathans and non pathans of Pakistan. Huge difference.

Same is true for facial features. Why do you think Indian muslims and bangladeshi Muslims are so ugly? Because almost all of them are lower caste (called ajlafs in the Muslim society). That is not true for pakistani Muslims. In Pakistan it is the exact opposite. There Hindus are lowercase and Muslims are all savarna converts. The polar opposite of Bengal where all Muslims are outcasts with horribly poor facial features and height.
