Hello, I am currently 5’4.5 and am so torn at the moment. I’ve done so much research thus far but am stuck between how badly I want to be 5’7 and how painful and grueling the process will be just to gain those 3 inches. I’ve had major surgery (preventative mastectomy) before so I’m not afraid of anesthesia, being 29yo at the moment, It’s the time that worries me the most. I also have issues with my legs in which they are always aching and tight due to my overnight job and constantly moving for 7 1/2 hours a day. What was the deciding factor for you that made you certain that this is what you want?

Are you female? If you’re female that’s a good height. Don’t mind with all this

I’m not considering LL surgery due to dating so rather or not I’m female doesn’t matter, I’m the shortest one out of my siblings and parents, I’d like to be 5’7. But my question was centered around your why, what was your reasoning for getting CLL?

Because I am (was) way below average, even below the normal range. You’re average height, LL is not worth your pain, time and money just because your siblings are taller.

Your life will not become measurably better after getting limb lengthening.

You are already average, or perhaps slightly above average height for a woman. Getting limb lengthening will make you much taller than other women, but still below average height compared to men.

Any benefit you experience will be entirely in your head. That's not to say it's a bad reason...as if something causes you so much anguish, then it is probably worth it. If you feel better that's good. But what if you dont?

I presume your preventative mastectomy was for cancer? I don't know if that effects limb lengthening, but you definitely want to tell your doctor that. I'm not a doctor so I can't say.

My opinion is that you'll be happier for having done LL. You'll still be short after doing LL, but you'll be normal short if that makes sense.

That being said, its a grueling and psychologically draining process. If you can live your life without doing LL, then you probably should. If you can't get it out of your head no matter what you do, then maybe it is the right thing to undertake.
