What changed in your life?
What height did you start and end at?
Was getting taller worth it? What changed?
Go through finished diaries.
What are some of the oldest and finished diaries?
I've seen some from LLSouthAmerica, Penguinn, but they still seem to be dealing with a lot of issues relating to their LL.
What issues?
Mostly that it's been a long time and I've not seen anyone here state that they're back even to 80%. I've seen posts of people talking about 2min jogs at most (not more, because "they didn't want to risk it"). I'm yet to see a patient who said he was able to go back to running after a year or two of recovery. It seems people get crippled for life.
I don't consider myself crippled at all. I am completely normal as any person. I walk at the same speed as people on the street. I can run at max speed like before. However, what does seem to have changed is stamina. I've never trained but really og 5 minutes and my calves start bothering me (muscle fatigue). Maybe it is compartimental syndrome or maybe it is muscle atrophy and lack of training.
Either way, even if I could not run properly or fatigued easily, I would not consider myself crippled. I knew what I was getting into and the things I would sacrifice and would do it all over again.
Yes people don't want to risk it. I am 7 months post op and even with weight bearing nails 2 months in crutches really bothered me. I would not risk a fracture just to prove myself I can run as fast and as long as before. It just isn't worth it.

Do you think I'll be fine if I lengthen 5cm?

I agree with LLSouthAmerica, I don't feel crippled at all. I did have a slower recovery than most people so jogging/running properly will take me more time. I'll only consider it a problem if my improvement stops, which it hasn't. You could spend a day with me right now and never realize anything was wrong until you asked me to run. Callus takes a long time to become solid as the old bone. Also, LL patients know how it feels to not be able to walk and have legs that feel like they weigh a ton.. so we're not going to sprint until we're 200% sure just to prove something.
For running, we would need to ask the 2014 diary patients.
I'm glad to hear both of you are doing well. And I should have chosen better words to describe what I meant. It was really just that I hadn't seen anyone state they were able to run again, even after a lot of time seemed to have passed. LLSouthAmerica said he can, though, despite the stamina aspect, so that's great to hear.
My jogging is suppressed mostly by choice, although it definitely wouldn't be back to normal if I went full steam. Considering my gait became normal just recently (1 year post op), I think I should give it time before I jog like I used to. By the feeling in my legs and the improvement, I'm certain I'll run. The speed and stamina we'll have to see. I'm not going to sprint until I'm 200% sure nothing will go wrong, it's just not worth it.
