From here in the netherlands, I would say anything below 1m77 (5'10) is noticably short After that you get into a fairly normal range. I am 1.72 evenening-1.73 morning, and I would like to gain about 6 cm from surgery.
what height would you need to be to not have done LL
Yea it's a completely different situation with Dutch people compared to like a city in the us . Dutch people are tall as fuk so I completely understand why a 5'9 person would feel short
Everything is relative
For me, it's 5'9. Still short but at that point, surgery is too much of a risk.

Hmm, I thought the average height would be a bit different in the Netherlands - I mean higher. Here where I live, that is in Poland, I can say that anything below 178cm is short, and I still have the impression that among the younger ones the average is about 182cm. With my 172cm, I'm screwed.

The average height for young males is the nl is 1.85. Looking purely at ethnic dutch males, the average would likely be slightly higher.
At 1.78 you'd definitely be on the short side, but I'd say its not so bad that you will be known and referred to as the short dude. I know a bunch of people around that height, and it looks sort of alright, to me at least.
When someone is like 1.75, I think it's more noticable and the person is firmly into short territory.
At my height (1.72) it is surely the bottom 1% if ethnic people are excluded. It is extremely rare to see a dutch person shorter than me.
I guess its up to personal judgement.

Quote from: microman on July 05, 2015, 08:28:12 PMjust wondering what height people would have needed to have been to not undergo LL.
for me I am 164.5cm, if I was 168cm I would not be doing this operation, I would simply wear nike air to bring me to 169cm.
I have a friend who is 167.5, he wears a 1cm lift to 168.5cm and said he is not willing to do LL, with that being said he said he is an 'okay' height with his 1cm lift.
interestingly I will end up 169.5cm post LL so I guess it's good to end up taller than I needed to be to be happy, also I will be wearing nike air to 170.5cm anyway if that matters.
Maybe 180 cm, being that tall I would have not so worried about my height.
Proly 5'7
Quote from: Del on July 06, 2015, 03:38:30 AMOn one hand I wonder why a 5'9.5 guy would do this to him. That isn't a short height in any country, unless all your friends are basketball players.
Median male height in Hamburg is 184cm... (age range: 20 - 40)
Quote from: G-Man on July 06, 2015, 08:52:57 PMI'm 179cm daytime and I'm pretty sure that if I were 181cm I wouldn't be here.
I'm 172cm daytime and I agree. Well 181cm morning I'd say it's not worth it
