The average for a young French man should be 177-178 cm but I always feel it is 182-183 cm.
I see too many young men who are 190 cm+ these days, more than expected.
It s not uncommon to see a bunch of 185-190 cm young men.I think it's time for the government to lead a study about the average height.Compared to most European countries, we don't have reliable datas about the national and the youngsters average height.

I would have expected an average of about 175. I know for sure that the latin countries, like Spain, Portugal, Italy, have a lower average height...

According to a 2004 study of 11,000 French people, the average male height is 175.6 cm (5 ft 9 in). For all over Europe, it is 177.6 cm (5 ft 10 in). The reason why you see so many tall young men, is probably because of confirmation bias. If you purposefully notice tall people, you'll notice them more often. If you do the opposite and purposefully look for short people, you'll think the average is shorter. I noticed this happening before and after my surgery. Before my surgery, I was shorter than 80-95% of males, and everyone looked tall in comparison. But after I got the surgery, I began noticing how many people I was taller than. On average, I am only taller than maybe 40-50% of males. But if I only focus on noticing how many people I'm taller than, I begin to think that I'm taller than most people. This is what fixed my height neurosis, even though I'm only 3 inches taller, which isn't much on paper, but to my psychology, it was a lot.

It's true that we tend to notice taller people but there is also quite the difference between age groups. The older generation in Sweden is about 179 on average and I really do feel much taller in such company. The young are 180-182 however that now includes men with foreign background (about 20%), I estimate the average ethnic swedish man between 20-29 to be maybe 183 or 184 cm but obviously I could be wrong.

French is no way that tall. I ve met lots of french guys and I could say they are right at 1m77-1m78 at most. Most of them are 1m76-1m77, however some of them are 1m82-83. White American, Canadian, British and Australian are a bit taller at 1m78.5-1m79. Southern European are slighly taller than Korean: 1m75-76ish. Countries like Germany, Sweden, Denmark, Croatia could be 1m80-1m83ish

You're absolutely right me and a couple of guys that are doing LL in Serbia were sitting near the side walk having some beers when one of them said this country is filled with giants and I pointed out the exact thing you just said. The next 3-4 people were all under 5'7

I visited Serbia once and I remember thinking to myself that there was no one between 5'8-6'0 - everyone was either under or over.

The average is 5" 9 but for whites it is 5 10 so that is why some people who are 5"7-5"9 might still feel short especially in the mid west America.

Average in US is 5 9", but considering all the races. Whites and blacks are 5 10", but being honest, it could reach 5 11" in pure white places.
