In an older part of the forum someone said that wearing in-shoe lifts with a heel (where only the back of your foot gets raised) can make you shorter because it can gradually shorten some muscles in the feet. Is there ANY truth to this? Because I've been wearing 1-inch lifts for quite some time and of course I'm deathly afraid of losing any height.

Yes it will make you shorter, unfortunately if you have been wearing them for a while the damage is already done, you more than likely have already lost about 2 cm and from my understanding  it is not reversible due permanrnt muscle contraction

The best thing you can do is stop wearing lifts so you don't lost any more height

It will defintely make him shorter, he should stop wearing insoles, every cm that he loses is a cm he has to gain back with LL

I will find the study were they saw this, one person lost an inch and a half over 1 year in the most drastic case

Luckily the op probably only lost about 2 cm due to the small lift amount, still not wise to keep using them

Dude... your height is based on the length of your bones. Even if the muscle gets shortened (which it does) because of the ankle being raised, the effect will go away in the morning after sleep... Just like the spine

I highly doubt it would have a permanent effect. Maybe in the really, really long run, like 30+ years. Otherwise, anyone who works sat all day in an office would see a significant height reduction in a matter of years.

Short muscles lead to bf and bad posture which can decrease your height not because you become shorter but because your posture overall is not completely straight.
That said, this will happen especially to women who wear very tall stilts, not to a man whi wears 2-3 cm lifts, and of course with stretching it will go away.

So permanent loss and all these are simply bs.
The true height, as Tibike said, is a matter of bones and that can't change by wearing lifts.

Even if muscles are shortened, how It would affect Bones? Bones are not plastic, when they get plastic is becuase of a fracture, so is bullsh!? The Lost in height throught years is on the spine, I dont think legs shorten, well maybe the csrtilage( but is within 3 mm).

lol ding ding ding. Yes I was trolling.
This thread was a stupid question, i didnt feel like it merited a serious response.

I was hoping the OP would have stopped wearing lifts simply because some random guy on the internet said some random pseudoscience bs, of course your not going to get shorter with 1 inch lifts. If anything if there were really permanent contractures they would make you taller because your heel wouldnt hit the floor and its like you were pemanently on your tippy toes. If the OP would have thought it through he would have figured it out. But he decided to post a stupid question, so he got a stupid response.

anyways thanks everybody for ruining the fun

Can wearing lifts make you shorter?
