Is it reasonable to wear dorsiflexion boots if im planning to undergo LL at least an year from now? Does anybody else have any experience like that?

I think I'd rather commit to an hour of stretching daily than wear dorsiflexion boots every single night for a year. It's not a bad idea, I just imagine it could be uncomfortable and irritating, if you choose to do this, spend the money needed to get a well made, lightweight and comfortable one.

You are better off just stretching. But beware when muscles or tendons get injured and become lazy (from lack of activity which you will have with this surgery) they go into a shortened atrophied state pretty quickly it's pretty much unavoidable with this surgery. Stretching will help but don't expect it to make a world of difference. Proper flexibility takes time to develop as well and it's only safe and beneficial to a point you can destroy muscles and joints by forcing them into an unnatural rom.

Good advice from BigPoppaPump, true flexibility takes years to achieve and to do so without over stretching and injuring muscles.

It may help you get used to the burning sensation at the bottom of your feet that will inevitably arrive when wearing the splints throughout the day.
