I guess what I'm saying is as soon as they have validation and know exactly what happened, thats when they can run their mouth.  If they dont have a specific story to tell, it makes it much harder to spread gossip, because they dont know what to tell other people.  If people hear "x seems taller" its like oh ok, yeah I guess so.  That is odd.  But if people hear "x had LL" then thats like pandoras box has just been opened.  LL is not something someone would spread unless you confirmed it because its not a thing in peoples vocabulary and a bold thing to claim without confirmation.

But I agree that if you're especially past 2 inches taller its going to be hard to pass off and create any kind of excuse for and you might piss some people off by lying.

Hello!
It is my case.
I live abroad from my family and see them not more than twice a year.
On february i made my first leg, and i told them that i broke my femur falling from stairs. As the operation was so hard for me, i needed to go live with some relatives some time.
On July i told them i needed to do a second chirgury to arrange the leg. I did my second leg.
When i finished my LL (still with crutches), one aunt noticed i was bigger. I laughed and told her: May be is you who are shrinking?  Has anyone been able to hide LL from direct family members?
I still can not walk correctly, i need crutches, so i don't know if they will notice when i will work normally.
By the way, i did 8.5 cm. So yes, it is possible. Nobody knows. Just this forum and my doctor.
