Question about visa

Not sure where to ask this but thIs is my issue

I want to go to Russia for LL but the max an American citizen can stay is 6 months per stay under a business visa.

To get the business visa you have to submit your name, birthdate, address, place of employment and I think a couple of other things.

My issue is with the place of employment. I do not want anyone to know I am doing this surgery.
I would like to know from people that have gone through this process if the Place where I am going to get the surgery calls my job and if so what do they say or ask? 

Is there another way to get the business visa without either putting your job or with out needing to have the hospital request a business visa?

Also how long does it take for this visa process to happen?

I know this ain't as wearing your question but I'm word srong where you got the information that because you're an American citizen you can only stay six months. Does it all vary by country of citizenship?

It is on the Russian consulate website. Due to a revised agreement between US and Russia, 180 days is the max. This is for US citizens.  Not sure about othet countries. I also verified in person with travel agencies.

I'm also curious because the limit for regular visa is 90 days for Americans in Europe, then you have to get a specific one.

Europe is ok I think.

They get the option of applying medical visa upon arrival which makes things easy (and Dr. Mitkovic has this option too).

Do the doctors actually check or care what type of visa you arrive on?  For example i'm heading to india very soon for metacarpal bone lengthening (hand) and getting a medical visa in the short time frame is proving to be a pain. Getting a basic travel visa is proving easy.  The basic travel visa will give me plenty of time in India as I only need to be there 6 week max.  Is it safe for me to just arrive on a basic travel visa?  I'm asking here first before I throw this question at the doctor.

Dude how are you getting metacarpal lengthening? Is it cosmetic?

If one only need to stay in India for 2 months for a surgery - Is it then okay to travel to India with a tourist visa or do you have to travel with a medical visa because of the surgery?
