Community here is just not as bad as /r/short or freakin make me taller that would blame absolutly everything cuz of their height.

There is just a lot of realistic people around here thats all im saying.

Exactly this.

I can't handle the amount of despair on r/short. Wow. And the guys that have success on r/short just get down-voted to hell, even though they are just trying to help. And it seems like the guys that are just barely below average (5'7, 5'8 ) are the ones that blame all their troubles on their height!

Quote from: CCMidwest on July 23, 2016, 12:42:31 PMThat's "doingitforme" that you are thinking of. It sounds like DIFM's hard work and tenacity really paid off for him. That's great!

I've just skimmed through his diary. He was awfully vague about what he did or how his app became profitable. He mentioned he spent US$ 100K on his surgey+ expenses! I looked up the revenue models of apps but nothing justified,  he might have built something mind-blowing, original and out-of-the-box novelty .
This might be an excellent alternative to the uncertainty of finding a high-paying job abroad.
I need to be acquainted to revenue models and monetization of apps then I'll teach myself how to build apps not just any app, it must be something original. I might need to travel to USA after I'm done. This is how bad I want this surgery.

IT industry and especially programming is reaally profitable.

Fellow IT student here, if you have at least bit of a fire for programming go for it without thinking.

Lol.. probably the latter. 5'9 guy looking to do 4" to become 6'1...seriously?

So the new master plan is learning how to program and moving to the USA huh. The Stanford bred engineers in the silicon valley are going to need this kind of talent.

OP is better off quitting the forum and working a few jobs and doing externals tibias.

So I've looked up the revenue models for apps, I've found that apps themselves don't generate substantial profits but few companies use them as a 'loss-leader' they give it away for "free" to attract users then later they charge a small fee for additional services. e.g. Company that owns the popular app Tinder is trying monetize it:
http://www.investopedia.com/articles/personal-finance/121714/how-tinder-makes-money.asp

The most successful revenue model used by developers is contract work when companies hire them to develop an app for them, but no known developer made millions from just an app.
https://www.developereconomics.com/building-a-business-not-just-an-app-start-with-the-revenue-model/
QuoteOf course, contract work also has strictly limited upside – it’s not really possible to build a scalable business around contract work without becoming a global giant consulting company. That said, the [tweetable]majority of developers would be better off if they spent most of their time on contract work rather than their own apps[/tweetable].

It's obvious that the so-called "self-made millionaire" user because of an app it's a lie.

I'll scratch this option out and stick to my original plan: Get better, high demand qualification and find a high paying job at any of the rich countries I've mentioned.

Dude, I'll be honest with you.

You're in the wrong forum. Your problem is not saving up money for LL surgery. Your problem is to save up money, period. Doesn't matter what you want to do with the money, you just want a way to save up money fast like many people on earth. Maybe you should come back once you got that money.

It's like a guy coming here asking how to make money to buy an apartment.

Here... This is much more broad in a sense, but it gives a general idea of how competitive the job market it. There are much more specific videos... but let me be honest, as as software engineer student myself... you'd be the luckiest kid in the planet to simply go out and earn 60K+ a year even after you attend a top school.

This is like one of the most useless "serious" threads on this forum...
