I look squarish due to my very big and wide torso and short legs. Both, my tibia and femur are short but their ratios are normal, it's just my torso is very big and wide for them.

My goal is not only to become taller but also become less stocky and get balanced lower to upper body proportions.

I remember RGKEY who had the same stocky build with short legs and even though he lengthened 9 cm in his tibia, his short femur was sticking out in my eyes, although he looked better post tibial LL indeed.

Unfortunately, I'm unable to make realistic mock-ups to gauge how I'll look in case of 8-10 cm femoral LL or 5-7 cm tibial LL. What I know is that in case of significant femoral LL of 8-10 cm, I will wear long pants with boots and appear balanced, whereas doing tibia, I will be limited wearing very high waist pants with tucked in shirts in order to balance out short femur and long tibia.

Basically, goal is to become as long-legged as possible since my legs are very short relative to my huge and broad torso.

Which segment do you think is best to lengthen first in order to appear less stocky?

I've seen the results on that Vietnamese doc's Facebook page and some of his results kinda look aesthetically unacceptable IMO. The guy does 7, 8, 9 cm on tibia which is huge for that segment. Although Lee in Korea does 7 and even 8 cm with LON tibia too, at least his results are superb for that method.

I would go to Russia for pure external tibial LL of 6 cm rather than do LON in Vietnam. At least in Russia those docs are mostly doing corrections on women's tibia and know how to deal with possible deformities during LL and fix them before consolidation phase.

As for cost, $15k is too much for doing this in Vietnam since in Russia with pure external it can be done for $5k.

I know that I have to pay for accommodation and other expenses but it can be optimized and there are many docs in Russia to choose from who specialize in Ilizarov devices.

Also, they don't use monolateral frames there, only full-ring Ilizarov frames which are very sturdy for pure external tibial lengthening.

As for doing LON, it's an option but not necessary. 5-6 cm can be done without nails in about a year and LATN is also an option there which provides greater stability than LON nails.

P.S. Infection risk is highest with the LON method compared with LATN. Even pure external lengthening is safer in terms of getting deep bone infection than LON.
